Beer kit equipment problems.

So I got a premium lager beer kit from the range for christmas I unfortunately didn't get the beer brewing bucket and other things with it I am still missing a brewing bucket, mixing paddle, a thermometer/thermometer strip, a siphon kit and a packet of sterilising powder I already have the dextrose sugar and hydrometer so I am sorted on that end.

I was gonna get the make your own starter equipment kit from the range but they don't deliver that to me even though I could order bottles from them just fine but thats besides the point I spoke with the customer services and told them about that and they said I could order it over the phone so should I get it or would it just be better to get the stuff from another website and what one should I get a full kit would be preferable cause that means I wouldn't have to wait for multiple deliveries.

Definitely try and get it all from one shop as delivery can fairly bump the price up. Most homebrew online shops have a selection of starter packs with everything you need. If they have hydrometers etc in the kit you could phone and they'd probably get everything sorted for you. Have you got any homebrew shops local to you?

The nearest ones as far as I am aware are in Antrim and Belfast I live in Omagh almost an hour and a half away So going there just to buy brewing equipment could be quite problematic for me. Are there any shops or kits you would recommend ?

I've used thehomebrewshop, geterbrewed and the homebrew company and found them all good. As for kits, Most places seem to make them up themselves.

Thank you man I'll try to find one from one of those sites =) I can just tell trying to get one from the range will only give me undeserved grief XD

I've never used the range. The homebrew shops are generally very helpful and can get you sorted.

I would use either geterbrewed or homebrewcompany UK or IE.

For a brewing bucket all you need is any large foodsafe plastic bucket that has a lid, chipshops are a good source for these as they buy in large tubs of powdered sauces and mayo etc. A mixing paddle is any long handled spoon, a thermometer can be had from anywhere that sells cookware. Sterilising can be done using diluted bleach or baby bottle cleaning products and a simple siphon can be made using a piece of plastic tubing.

As this is your first attempt I would be inclined to keep costs down until you see if it's something you want to continue with. Gumtree is also a good source for equipment that maybe a bit more local to you.

Wilko, if they have stores in NI, stock homebrew basics.
And you don't need to buy bottles to get started. Old fizzy water bottles will do for the time being until you decide how to want to progress, with PET or glass bottles, or even a pressure barrel.

I may not need to buy bottles but I already went ahead and bought them a couple of weeks ago before I made this post so I may aswell use them XD I have gotten some really good advice from everyone on this thread I will take it all on board and decide today what equipment I shall buy and let you know how the beer turns out =)

You know you need:
-a fermenting bucket, get one with a water lock
-thermometer strip, cheap from aquarium shops, cheaper from ali-express, but necessary? For this kit?
-mixing paddle, metal soup ladle?
-steriliser sachet, a kilo costs a tenner and lasts years. Maybe bleach?
-a syphon kit, might spend a few quid extra for an auto siphon

Odds are you gonna like brewing. Because it's fun. In that case, maybe look a bit into the future? Will you bottle in swing-tops or use caps?

I got swing tops I just prefer how they look and I won't have to buy extra caps the next time I brew another batch =)
