    AG#1 Robinsons Old Tom

That's a big old beer for the first one, so hats off! I came up short on my first AG and only ended up with 20l in the FV.

    Cloudy wherry

It will clear in time. I left my last Wherry 10 weeks and it was beautiful. Current Wherry is at 5 weeks in the barrel, but I won't touch it for another 5.

Changed my username - eskimobob becomes eskibrew

My name change isn't too confusing though. ScottSmith to Scott! :thumb: Could have changed it to Dave and really confused

    Which Ale Is Best??????

Got to agree with the Wherry, a good quality kit with great results when left for a couple of months!

    Hello All from Derbyshire.

Hi Dave, I work at J28 and used to live in Mansfield, so not far! I love a day out at Matlock too, great beauty spot.

    Let's clear this one up...

Currently supping my AG blonde ale which isn't the clearest beer, but tastes good! I would have like a clear ale but I won't get hung up on it.

    electronic cigarettes

I quit with E-Lites, I bought the starter kit for £26 when it was on groupon. This Tuesday will mark a year of me quitting. Further to the E-Lites I read Allen Carrs an easy way to stop smoking, it was brilliant and helped a lot. I know it sounds strange that a book can help, but seriously try...

    Tartar?

In ginger beer it stops crystallisation, I assume it'll have the same or similar effect in other brews. The amount you add is small so you don't notice any off flavour

    secondary fermentation - Wherry

I do two weeks in warm then two weeks in cold for secondary, but obviously the longer you leave it in cold the nicer it will taste.

    Woodfordes Wherry

It will, however, there are ways to reduce the amount of sediment, like leaving the brew in the FV a week after fermentation has stopped, this allows the yeast to clean up. The type of yeast also effects how loose the sediment is in the bottle. Just be careful when you pour, leave the last half...

    Sundew

My Sundew was brewed short to 20litres due to others commenting about the watery taste. Been in the bottle for three weeks now! Sampled one last weekend and was coming on very well.

    Hi from Sheffield, UK

Welcome from another Sheffielder! You're right regarding the micro breweries, love taking a trip up to Bradfield!

Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown with Goldings hops + vid

Just finished my last bottle of this, I brewed short to 20l and used a beer kit enhancer. It was nice, defiantly drinkable. However, I wouldn't go to the effort of bottling it next time, it wasn't quite worth it!

some advice on my first ginger beer brew

My ginger beer still smells "eggy" and I bottled a good 6 weeks ago! It will always get better with age, but I think when using fresh ginger, you need to leave it as long as possible. However, others on here have had better results with fresh ginger and have been drinking it a lot earlier.

I live in Hillsborough, I'd definitely be up for a small meet up! I agree with you regarding brewing talk, our lass kicks off if I talk about it!

    First AG brew at last

Good luck! I did my first AG a couple of weeks ago, going to be bottling tomorrow. Ever since I did it, I've been looking forward to the next!

    Hello everyone!

I recently went AG and its well worth the investment in my opinion.

    Sediment Taste

With a dark ale you can't really tell to be fair. You'll probably be able to tell its there in a lighter beer.

    First Brew an outstanding success

That must be rubbish, living in Ibiza for the majority of the year! ;)

    Coopers Carbonation Drops

I would use two for Lager. I used one for my bitters but I've found it isn't enough to get a decent fizz, so I now batch prime.
