Hi everyone, was just thinking about the only thing about home brewing that's not great, it can be rather insular at times. You know when your friends and significant others and family members eyes glaze over at the first sign of brewing talk. Anyway, was wondering how many fellow brewers are about in the sheffieldish area, and if anyone might be interested in getting together for a thbf pint or few??? Don't quite know if I can wait til tst to talk beer and stuff. Anyhow let me know if you're local and wold be interested in a small group meet up. (Mama always warned me about meeting people off the internet)

I live in Hillsborough, I'd definitely be up for a small meet up!

I agree with you regarding brewing talk, our lass kicks off if I talk about it!

Tell me bout it. Maybe well would be ok . see if anyone else would be interested too

I'm local, but she don't let me out.

Glad to see im not on my own with this one... its like a max security prison at tberts palace!!

In fact it would be easier to go and live at a max security prison... id have more freedom lol.

Im over in Bolton and finding the same problem... no one i know of brews and get the same glazed over response when i speak about brewing. If i had someone local im sure my brews and confidence would grow huge amounts.

We have in the past arranged a couple of mini forum get togethers in Stockport - have you added yourself to the forum map?

Is Dronfield near enough?

Of course it is, 10 mins on train sure we could come up with somewhere easy for all.

I have, yes.

Cool glad to hear it, might just let the thread run for a week or so and see who else might be interested before thinking about days and locations

Yep that's me.... not my most fetching side though.

The first beer is out in bars here and there. I have just been to Hill Top Club to pull the first pint in Dronfield...lovely, Dronfield Amber is a single hopped Goldings number ( a tip of the hat to the old Stones recipe), each months brew is to be a single hopped beer with the style that fits the hop the best....so CITRA will be a pale, brewers gold a golden ale, cascade an extra pale, Challenger a bitter, Bramlin cross an ESB and so on...

I like the idea hopefully I'll find some soon! Did u have owt on at magna?

Dronfield Amber 4.5% was on at Magna...I sent 2 casks of it as they were expecting a lot of tickers...it ran out....

I also had it on at The Hop in Sheffield....it ran out...

It went on at the Hillsborough Hotel last weekend...went on the bar on Friday late afternoon...ran out Saturday!!

Its on tonight at Travellers in Apperknowle, Hill Top Club Dronfield, Monday sees it at Miners Arms in Hundal, next weekend its out of the area at Crowdecoates...

More often than not it will be on permanently at Hill Top Club, the committee there are real ale fans and have given me an exclusive pump on the bar..
