What is finings A and B?

Most likely Kieselsol and Chitosan at least those are the 2 part finings i usually get in kits.

    Young's Winebudy Merlot

Chippy is right you should try it as per the instructions first to see if you or the wife like it. If you do like it that's all that really matters. I will say i didn't (true of all the wine buddy reds not tried the white) and i tried all sorts of modification to the merlot and cab sav...

    Youngs Cellar 7 Pinot Grigio

I will be interested to hear what you think of it once its had a chance to settle. I did a Beaverdale Pinot Grigio a few of months ago and its not bad but seems a bit "thin" to me.

Almost put off by Horrid Winebuddy Cab Sauv, want to try wnother make

Sadly the winebuddy reds are all quite bad in my experience even with extensive modification so don't be to hard on yourself. If you must do a 6 bottle kit and want to stick with Cab Sav try Beaverdale or California Connoisseur both are around the £12 mark and should not disappoint...

    Turbo Cider questions

If in doubt don't add any and sweeten with a little cold AJ from the fridge when having a drinky....

    Kenridge classic Vinocella

I rarely if ever get my filter out for anything less than a 30 bottle kit. Kits will generally clear by themselves if you rack and leave them long enough. Wows with added fruit and country wines are of course a whole different matter.

    Red wine enricher

Used this on a couple of juice wines recently and noticed a definite quality improvement and a bit of a kick in the end product. I tend to estimate ABV at times rather than measure so i am guessing i under estimate when using this stuff. There isn't much info on the can. Anyone know how...

    Turbo Cider.

You could. I am not sure you would get the exact same result but i suspect it would still be very good. The pectolase helps to bring out the flavour and clear it if you add enough. I like a slightly scrumpy look so only add half a tsp. The malic adds sharpness. You don't need to add...

    Turbo Cider.

I have made many different turbo ciders generally playing around to find something i like. My best recipe to date by far is; 1/2 a large bramley apple chopped up 2 litres tesco pressed AJ 2 litres Princes AJ 80g sugar Tannin - The juice from 2 tea bags in a mug of black tea Malic...

    Tesco Turbo cider

:o Strewth that's an NCIS cider. Near Carpet Interface Session That particular juice does seem to make a nice cider though. I used it with some chopped up bramleys and a cider yeast, it made one of the cheapest and best turbo ciders i have made so far. Not at that strength though !

    Experimental microbrews

Being keen on experimenting with all sorts of ciders and wine i like the idea. But also being cheap ;) i use 5 litre water bottles as demijohns so i guess a 2 litre water bottle will also work. Never made a cider or supermarket juice wine so bad yet that i couldn't drink it though.

    Second Turbo Cider

I did an apple and pear turbo cider a while back wanted to see if i could get an apple cider with a little pear flavour. That was 2 x AJ and 2x AJ&P. It worked out reasonably well, will do it again sometime.

    cider kit enhancers

I often use the brewbuddy kit as a base for playing around with cider flavouring. Actually brewed short and left for a few months its not bad on its own but the opportunity to play and enhance the kit is hard to resist. I found using normal sugar and adding a few chopped up bramleys works...

Can I use buckets for a wine kit?

I had issues with very vigorous fermentation using the bucket type fermenters. That was mostly with wine buddy reds, one actually buckled the lid and blew it off. I believe the older type had stiffer lids so were less susceptible to distortion when fermenting. Because of the above i moved...

    Cooking wine from homebrew

Yes indeed. I have been brewing on and off for more time than i care to mention but i only relatively recently discovered the joys of wine from supermarket fruit juice. This led me to much ongoing experimentation some of which works well, some less so. The not so good experiments go into...

    Cider brewing first attempt

I made a few of the brewbuddy cider kits, they are ok if left to mature for a few months and make a decent cost effective staple. The last couple i brewed short and added a 4 litres of of AJ from concentrate, (in place of water) which seemed to help add more body to it. My latest...

    Carbonation Query

Sounds like your xmas was as good as mine :D Not sure why you would want to dissolve the sugar in water ? I just put it straight in the bottle with a funnel then fill the bottle and leave it in a warm place for a few days for secondary fermentation to happen. I found a guide (cant recall...
