    Mild

I had a good session on mild for my wedding aniversary as it was on tap, hydes black I think?, a couple of my friends questioned me drinking weak 2-3% stuff rather than my usual 5%+ habits but it soon spoke to itself after what felt like the 12th pint of the night shoved under my nose :lol...

    Mild

I drink more mild than any other commercial beers put together, camra did a campagne for mild last year to encourage more to drink it

    Wine saver as a degasser

Could you remove the water ftom the air lock for degassing? You are going to be filling all headspace with co2 anyway by degassing.

    J2O bottles

I've got a large batch of now empty glass coca-cola bottles which where excelent for a single measure of sparkling wine, I think they may be thicker though.

    Confused new guy about Priming

The amount you need to stir to mix properly would lift all the sediment back up, negating the effects of the final week clearing.

    Confused new guy about Priming

All this racking sounds painful. I tend to crash cool in the primary vessel for a few days then syphon it in to my bottling bucket with priming sugar on bottling day. I can see the appeal of another racking if you where using finnings before putting it in a keg but otherwise its currently...

    Success with kits??

What commercial lagers do you drink? If you have a cool area in your house or garage at this time of year you may be able to ferment at lager yeast temperatures without the need for a brew fridge. Bottle pouring is also important so that you don't tip all the sediment in to the glass, I drank...

    Red WOW

Twinnings blackberry burst tea bags give a lovely red colour now I think about it not a full red but it might help with some other additions.

    Landing on ice

Great stuff, ones arse would be biting chunks out of ones seat attempting such a landing.

    cleaning demijohns...

I bought some second hand ones and cleaned them up and used them a few times... Then got some oxy clean and they sparkled like never before! Rice works well also with the really tricky residue.

I was talking to my wife today about thw incident and informed her how much safer it would be to use poly pins and a hand pull... "even small pub kegs would be much safer...."

i read that bottle bombs where scary....

It was just one DJ and a couple have been drunk but I primed each bottle which I won't do again. And if I find any bottles I'll be pouring the horrible stuff away. I suspect this brew was not finished due to its snail like fermenting.

i read that bottle bombs where scary....

I put the bag outside in the cold, I'll inspect the rest tonight I must have bottled it 9 months ago so I suspect I damaged a bottle or something, although it was the slowest primary ferment in history!

i read that bottle bombs where scary....

Last night I had to doubly child proof my house as my sister in law came round with some rather active kids...making ours look easy to deal with! So I bagged up some random bottles in a big sport direct bag, put a pram rain cover over them and moved them from my cool storage spot (living room...
