Using a beer pump/engine with Cornie

Brian. You could use the way valve to flush.....hadn't thought of that one. Nice idea Sir. I use a type D sanke connector so as soon as I lift the lever and disconnect it's ready to be submersed in water and the pump operated. You could make an adapter that is the same as the 'out' line on...

Using a beer pump/engine with Cornie

I disconnect when I am .5 pint away from finishing the session and pull some water through.

"Cask conditioned", "nearly" real ale ...

) I have just kegged ( sankey) a 5 gallon batch of Marris Otter (84.9%), Crystal 60L(10.31%) and caraamber( 5.36%), hopped with stryians (late in boil), EKG and progress. From previous advice from your good self, I primed with 15 grams of sugar. This will be pumped and a breather will be used...

    Washing/harvesting Wyeast 1968

So the scramble egg looking stuff on the top when 1968 is doing its job is the yeast? Correct

    Washing/harvesting Wyeast 1968

I am trying to harvest the high flocculant Wyeast 1968. From the image, please can someone tell me what is the yeast and what is the trub? Is it yeast on the bottom? Thanks

"Cask conditioned", "nearly" real ale ...

I have just picked up this thread after waiting for someone who uses aspirators, or breathers to chime in. I was going to go down that route and wanted to see what other folks impressions were. So they way I see it and after reading your thread, is that a low pressure regulator set @1-2 psi...

    Foam skim off during boil??

No, its an all grain brew. The foam is very minimal too. Think i'll just leave it be next brew

    Foam skim off during boil??

Hello all. Is there any benefit/disadvantage to skimming the foam off as the boil is approached? Does it help with clarity later on, or does it remove good stuff? Thanks Nathan

SS Brewtech Chronicle 7 US Gal Conical Fermenter

Nice review on a bit of kit that looks and performs like the dogs nuts. I am lucky enough to be living in the USA at the moment. I think one of these will find its way into the shipping container when I come home:smile:

    2 points before FG

Thanks for the replys lads. Too many variables me thinks. I'll prob let my beer ferment out and prime with small amounts of sugar.

    2 points before FG

I have learnt that some brewery's cold crash their beer a couple of points below final gravity before casking it. What would a couple of points below final mean? The way I see it is the estimated FG is 1010 then they stop it at 1012 correct? NEW GUY QUESTION ALERT!!

    Cask conditioning and priming

Wow! Many thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail! I have done lots of research on the net and I did have the same idea for serving as you, very similar infact. I have also considered poly pins ( which I will probably do first due to the cost of buying more kegs)! How does your...

    Cask conditioning and priming

Good morning. Yes I do have a full corny set up with a double reg and bottle. I plan on using that for force carbing an AG American Blonde Ale. I think this type of beer lends itself to such storage/serving methods ( its for the Wife as she doesn't like my style of drink). I have done one...

    Cask conditioning and priming

Yes, maybe Iam getting muddled. I maybe have become blinkered as this is my first beer I have ever brewed. It is a woodefordes wherry kit and I have read that it needs to be stored for up to 8 moths to get the best from it. I assumed that was the same for all British bitters? Can I ask...

    Cask conditioning and priming

Would it not be the first pint or 2 that draws sediment? I plan to minimize this, by leaving in primary for a month and then cold crash before transferring.

    Cask conditioning and priming

Morning Brew Team! I plan on using stainless Corny kegs for storing my Bitters and using an Angram to serve it. I have looked all over the net about conditioning the beer. Should I prime it as I would a bottle (at a reduced sugar rate), or not prime at all and rely on the pump? I really...

Should I go straight in at the deep end?

I have just done the same as what your thinking about doing. I went straight from making a Woodfordes Wherry Kit ( still in Primary), but will be doing my first AG this weekend. I did find doing the kit handy first though as it gets you in the mindset about getting things right, sterilizing...

Hello from a Brit living in the USA

Agreed, I always ask for 2 glasses and 'decant' to get rid of some fizz and introduce a touch of heat ( probably oxidizing slightly but hey ho)
