It looks like the temp thing is wired to a pump. Which circulates water through the coils fitted to the lid. So if you get a small batch of water set at the desired temp. The pump activates to circulate the water through the coil until desired temp is achieved. Looking on line it's suggested a fish tank heater in a bucket of water so temp is content and then the pump circulates it as and when.

Mrs MQ definatley wouldn't allow anything like that - you should have seen the look on her face when I put my huge fermentation bag in the my brewing corner to try it for size, "It's not staying there permanantly is it?" she asked. "No love." :whistle:

@ManseMasher that always assuming your Homebrew McGuiver ;). I certainly couldn't make something like that

Less than 30 quid. Wouldn't be a fancy neoprene jacket (although I do have several wetsuits and an old drysuit knocking around) but a hot water tank jacket will work just as well. Two holes in the lid, a couple of tank couplings, 10' copper 10mm and an aquarium pump. Job done.

You make it sound so simple. You should see the bodge job I've made of trying to put two holes in a jam jar lid to make my yeast collection device :lol:

Malt Miller have the conical fermenters as well as the brew buckets (wish I could afford one at the mo but will have to wait till later in the year) on pre-order at the mo. If your interested in either I'd get in now as they only have 32 of the conicals and 15 of the brew bucket available/left and I bet they'll go like hot cakes

@Tartanspecial

I came across this when I was mooching

At 34" tall I think you could just about get your conical in there? I seems to have a little gap for an airlock though too.

By the looks of it, it works the same as my cool brewing brew bag, which I can highly recommend -I have a Porter in there at the moment cold fermenting at steaddy 15C (with a fluctuation of at most 0.5C degree) . My brew bag cost a total of about £120. The original price from the American website I bought it from was about $40. This fast ferment one is $55 (at the moment at presale). It would definatley save you faffing about with moving the conical around and using fans and stuff.

thanks MyQul :thumb:, that would fit perfectly, and the frozen bottles would fit easily inside the Chronicle's legs. Will have to seriously think about this...it would also allow me to extend my brewing season and not have rushed brew after rushed brew as I currently do October to April. Have you decided yet whether to go for the brewmaster bucket?? Of all their range I think that is the best value for money.

You'll definatlely be able to brew year round, any where in the house. You could even lager with it if you wanted to.
I'm definaltey going to buy the SS bucket when I can afford it because for me I'm going to be able to get a second use out of it as I can use it as a no-chill cube before using it as intended as an FV
Not sure whether I'm going to buy the one with the thermowell or not though as it's interesting to see what the temp is at the core of the fermentation but I'm not sure if its absolutely necessary

Nice review on a bit of kit that looks and performs like the dogs nuts. I am lucky enough to be living in the USA at the moment. I think one of these will find its way into the shipping container when I come home:smile:
