Evening all,

Prepping for a brew day on Sunday which will be a TT Landlord clone.

Im making a starter for the 1469 this evening. Relatively new to starters having only done one before. Anyone any experience with how active this yeast gets in a starter?

Have seen pictures of big krausens with this strain!

I was planning about a 1.5L starter but the jar I’ll leave it in is about a 2L Kilner type… enough room in there for it?

I've had a look at those bottles online.

Just make sure you are 100% sure it is basically sterile.

The glass flasks and pans that I sterilise the wort in and make the starter can be boiled.

In the end it went in the glass flask. I figured as it’s not on a stir plate and will just be swirled every so often, chances of it exploding out are slim.

I have a weird aversion to PET bottles, which is ridiculous, because one of the best beers I made was 4 litres of ‘extra’ wort chucked in an ashbeck bottled and fermented with the cap loosely screwed on.

But there you have it! Looks like there’s activity this morning and a nice layer of yeast forming at the bottom 👍

It’s bubbling away this eve and had a nice good shake. Will be brewing tomorrow morning and should be done by mid afternoon.

Would you suggest slinging the lot in?
Don’t think I’ve got time at this stage to be chilling, decanting and bringing up to pitching temp..

If it's still active unless you chill it, activity continues so you'd need to check it all in.
It's an ale so should cope.
I'd separate if it was a starter for lager.
But this yeast would be an odd choice for that!

It is indeed an ale. Landlord Clone as it’s my dads favourite drop.

It all went in at about 4pm. It was still active with a thin krausen on top and yeast at the bottom.

Tucked up at 18.5 degrees and the lid on the fermentor already showing signs of activity 👍
