WY1469 Starter

Evening all,

Prepping for a brew day on Sunday which will be a TT Landlord clone.

Im making a starter for the 1469 this evening. Relatively new to starters having only done one before. Anyone any experience with how active this yeast gets in a starter?

Have seen pictures of big krausens with this strain!

I was planning about a 1.5L starter but the jar I’ll leave it in is about a 2L Kilner type… enough room in there for it?

I've had starters climb out of a 3litre erlenmeyer of 1.5litres.

Some people use fermcap, I've not used this.

That’s the sort of answer I feared

Just realised I’ve got a couple of 5L ashbeck bottles with sanitizer in.
One of these should do the job nicely!!

I've had a look at those bottles online.

Just make sure you are 100% sure it is basically sterile.

The glass flasks and pans that I sterilise the wort in and make the starter can be boiled.

Yeah I did worry a touch about that, it’s had a does of hot water, some cleaner and now some sanitiser. Should have done the job!!
