Due to my last Wurzels getting a big thumbs up by the missus and others who have tried it, I am scaling up my Wurzels production - this time a rose with red grape concentrate.....

My new mixer/aerater (paint stirrer drill attachment) - interested to see how it gets on

Aeration works an absolute treat with the paint mixer - JUST fits through the neck of the fermenter!

The paint mixer works really really well - so much easier than doing it by hand. Should also work for degassing as well I think...

Ah yes, welcome to the slippery slope :drunk:

I tried one gallon of Wurzel's as a test brew, then made two, then three, then bought one of those Young's 5 gallon fermenters. They actually hold 30.5 litres or 6.75 gallons to the neck.

A warning though - when full it's bloody hard to lift them by the handles from floor to worktop on your own.

I've scaled down again to 15 litre water bottles, although thanks to a tip-off from Turbotez I've now got 4 of those on the go.

Yes - I fear this is a slippery slope indeed....
It's much more satisfying producing a larger quantity somehow.

nice one andy ive done the same, and i do up to 6 gallons.. :D

having given out a few samples i may have a sponsor who will cover the cost of an fv, for half of the contents...sounds like free wine for me....

i have never really aerated mine b4 and they have turned out fine......

i dont really degass them much either.... :wha:

I always degass mine, but i use Moleys method and after I have racked and stabilised it i put my hand over the top of the dj and shake the **** out of it and let the gas out bit by bit, workls a treat.

I probably do about 5 gallons a month now have regular party nights at my house on it, all my friends wives love it.

Did an interesting one last month Redgrape and Guava very nice and its 2 of my 5 a day

excellent work there andy....
some gr8 ideas...

i think when i do my next brew, tox caxton best bitter,[i was so impressed with the last one] i will put my long handled stiring spoon into my battery drill.....that will areate it.. :hmm:

I tried the plastic stirring paddle in the drill. With hilarious consequences. The long bendy handle meant it flapped about uncontrollably. Would have made one hell of a mess if I had tried to aerate wort with it! Would be fine if it is a metal handled spoon though...! :thumb:
