I only make kit ales and beers. I want to make a very high quality beer, but don’t get what I want from kits, it tastes not as good a shop’s German or Czech beer, or any international lager with 5% Alcohol content. Is there a high quality wort that I could make a good Czech or German beer that is close to 5% alcohol?

I saw this Japanese style beer wort, probably it is ok, but don’t know if it gets to 5% and taste like an international lager?

Also saw this lager, is it any good? Don’t want to get anything like Fosters or Carling

If there is no Czech or German words, then I am happy to settle for an international beer with 5% alcohol content

Thanks

Never used a pre-made wort before but they are popular where available. They sit between kit and all grain.

If it was me I’d go for the second one and use 34/70 yeast which can ferment cleanly at the top end of the lager range. Dry hopping is up to you, I’d probably try without first to see what it is like. If you are aiming for 5% I’d take a hydrometer reading on the neat wort and then decide if you need to add water to bring it down.

No, I am not doing all grain though I know it often delivers better results - I will need to buy an additional equipment as I don’t enjoy making wort, but I want to have very small amount of kit as I may need to travel abroad at a short notice and for quite a long time, so the kit shouldn’t cause problems to my family
