Picked up my orders today.

Note to self - don't order 7x 2 can kits and go alone to pick them up. I swear my arms are longer than this morning....

Cracking deal though! Got 2 FVs for good measure.

Might pop back for a few more bits tomorrow.

And one thing I've noticed, Wiko carrier bags are rubbish, they last about 5 minutes when loaded with a homebrew kit, or 6!! Be sure to demand double bagging :D

Double bag  that would cost you 10p at least in Wales

Found myself in Brighouse this afternoon, which by chance has you guessed it ... a Wilkinsons well it was criminal not really, so relieved them of another Golden ale and a Muntons premium 30 bottle wine kit.

Hurry up chaps the shelves were starting to look a little thin!

Try a WOW Mick, if you haven't before. Just drank the first bit of mine last night and very, very impressed with the outcome from such cheap ingredients. I can't see me buying white wine from the shop for a good while! Once you've got the few chemical bits you need, you're talking 2 or 3 quid for 4-5 bottles of very acceptable wine, with very little effort!

The demijohns were the one thing that didn't interest me, they're pretty easy to pick up, especially from car boots and charity shops for £1-2 each. I've got 11 now and they're really useful for splitting batches to add different dry hops and flavourings or dabbling in wine making.

Sounds to me like you might be racking too soon and wasting a lot, you should be getting at least 5.5 bottles from a DJ, and up to 6 with practice and a steady hand.

+1 for wow and cider Mick :thumb:
Its so easy to make. I usually do mine in my beer FVs and do 23 litres at as time.
The good thing with the cider is that it gives you such a lot of flavour options too, i think ive made about six or seven so far this year and not done the same flavour twice, plus it goes down a bomb at BBQs in the hot weather over ice!!!

The brown beer bottles are back in stock on the site. I just grabbed a load of them which saves me trying to remove plastic labels from around 30 bottles :)

Also if you use quidco remember to go via them to get your 6% cashback on top of the 50% off :thumb:

Just grabbed some bottles, ta!

Cheers Moley! I did this one in a bit of a rush, but it still came out great, which is why I can recommend it so heartily! I think it was a combination of rocky racking technique and not topping up enough in the first place  : for the first time ever, I didn't bother taking an OG or measuring the water properly. I will have to check your How To again, Moley! If you want it to stop, rather than backsweeten, then you have to intervene earlier I thought, and I thought I'd be best racking it onto the Campden and stabiliser in a separate DJ after 7 days. Yes 4.5/0.75=6, so 5.5 seems a target. Even better, Mick  Grab some more of those cheap DJs and airlocks!

As it turned out, it was already 0.993/4, so I backsweetened anyway. Took a bit of experimenting to backsweeten - initially used grape concentrate, then decided it was tooo alcoholic anyway, and tried a bit watered back v slightly and it was better (ie, might as well just have used juice!). Haven't done that with the whole batch yet, though.

The wife is onto her second batch of WOW now, a 25 litre batch yielded 32 75 cl bottles after racking and then bottling. (28.2 litres overall (wine and juice for back sweetening) made 24 litres in the end)
The initial brew was too strong (14.75%) so i back sweetened with 100ml per bottle of white grape juice in 22 and 100ml of red grape juice in the other 10 and it is really decent stuff, and it is nicely medium dry and down to 13.4% which is less likelt to send Mrs KC over the edge!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Unlike version 1.0 which i didnt rack or stabilise and add campden this is crystal clear and without any pesky sediment.!

The wife is onto her second batch of WOW

Yep, I got a big thumbs up from Mrs MTW too :thumb: (and she's not too keen to admit the gallons of nice liquid flowing from the summerhouse recently justify all the apparel lying around!)
