Before we got cornys we use 2 litre coke bottles with a screw cap they work great as long as you keep them in the dark and they can stand 100psi pressure. Ideal for beer or cider :thumb:

I dont know about brown, but I get blue ones from Asda Flavoured Sparkling water.

They are not quite as dark as brown, but they are the best I've found.

Loads on ebay, from the online brewing shops mainly. Prolly not specially cheap.

They can take more than that, although 100PSI is the max I have used for water bottle rockets.

Looks like I will be buying some sparkling water then.

4 for £1.40

I assume it is prolonged exposure to light that makes the beer skunky? So as long as I keep these in a dark cupboard everything should be A OK?

I have just asked this in another post as well, but as it is topical... How much space would you leave at the top of one of these bottles and how much sugar would you use to prime?

Thanks!

I've seen coloured cider bottles in verious shops's (aldi & lidel etc...) also seen upto 3L, maybe worth poping to them first

I currently use 2 litre clear PETs from Asda at 14p for their still smartprice water (it isn't filtered but I use that for my brews too). I also use the cheap energy drink bottles because you can get them about 70p and they are a really dark silvery grey which is good for keeping out the sunlight!
