I never brought a can of beer.

I bought a can of beer just before Xmas whilst stocking up at brewdog. Over Xmas I had a few cans of craft beer.

Tetleys used to be a belting pint when brewed at the Leeds brewery, and was one of the most popular cask beers in the UK. But it has changed so much over the years and is probably now a shadow of its former self.

So would you not recommend it anymore?

Last time I had any Tetleys Bitter it came from from a can some years ago and it was nothing like the beer I used to drink in South Yorkshire years ago. Never again springs to mind!
As for the cask/keg stuff you can't get it in my area.
Tetleys Leeds brewery was shut down some years back so what is brewed nowadays ain't brewed in Leeds I'll bet.

Not for a long time as I refuse to pay £5 plus for a can where the contents are double the cost of a draft pint. Total rip off, if it's not on draught/keg or reasonable bottle I wont drink it

Thornbridge have stopped their 500ml bottles and selling the 330ml at £2.00 which is akin to tampering with a Toblerone in my book!

I've seen it the odd time in Tesco but it always just made me think of tea. If there's any singles the next time I'm in I may pick one up to try. Could be an idea for a tea wine, use Tetley bags in it.

Some really good breweries are using cans now, including Stone, Alchemist, Weird Beard, Firestone Walker, Beavertown, Oskar Blues, Sixpoint...

Once upon a time Tetley's was a truly staggering, masterpiece of a beer. The stuff they served at the Wheatsheaf in Barnsley was the finest ale in the whole Universe. Then they went and bulldozed the place to make a roundabout. I don't know what Tetley's is these days but it bears no resemblance (apart from being wet) to the Tetley of yesteryear. Anyways I wrote elsewhere of my disgust at what Guinness has transmuted into, so last week I got 4 tins of Mackeson to see if that had gone the same way. Nope - and still a jolly nice drop,if a little lacking in A.B.V.

Yep. Tetleys bitter in the eighties when it was brewed in Leeds was an absolute delight if you got a good one, though it was just as easy to get a poor one...
It was a proper creamy, bitter beer, 3.6% abv and not at all hoppy like the beers of today.
I used to play football on Sunday morning and then pile into the White Horse pub in Burley in Wharfedale (proper boozer) and sink three or four pints before going home to a Sunday dinner. Happy days
I think Carlsberg took over the Leeds brewery and things were never the same thereafter....
