OK, bit of a problem. Not brewed beer in years so need some adevice.
I have started a kit off fermenting, which should finish round about Thursday (in 2 days).
Is it possible to drink thwe beer young?
I was thinking of racking off the lees in to a plastic keg (with c02 bulb), adding fininings and a little sugar.
What would be the prtobability of having a clear beer ready for a party Saturday night?????

on thursday how long will it have been fermenting , chances are it will be flat with a head on it by saturday (c02 bulbs creating head) and if its a kit brew it will most likely taste like crap but may be ok ish ,sorry

It is in the primary, it will have been fermenting for 6 days on thursday. OG was 1.042 whewn started on Saturday, SG today is 1.012, but still bubbling through the airlock.

I leave all of my kits a minimum of 2 weeks regardless of what the instructions say. I'd leave it at least another week and let it finish fermenting.

8 days to ferment and condition is definitely pushing it a bit too much...

I would say that at the very least wait until around Tuesday to keg it, and then wait a further 2 weeks to drink it... Sorry

I agree with Pitsey on this one. It will take at least a week if not more to carbonate. Also you would be better racking after fining and then racking into your barrel once it has cleared. That way you will get a nice clear pint when you do draw the beer. But if you must drink the beer it will be drinkable, but maybe not clear and probably taste crap.

Cheers all, thanx for all the replies. Like I said, been a few years sinvce i last mede beer. Will have to take a demijohn of wine to the party instead, thats a couple of months old and damn nice ;)
