I made one of those. Turned out like Theakston's Old Peculier. Sadly running low on it now.
Currently drinking a Wilko Golden Ale with extra Maris Otter, Chinook and Citra. Took a while to mature, but really rather good now. I may make a new one.

There was a post from Vossy about Tebay (M6) motorway services..... so we pulled over last weekend. Cool place, plenty of arts and craft stuff to keep SWMBO amused while you check out the great range of local brews. Lots to choose from not just the usual ales either, lots of foreign and new styles. I bought about £30 worth!

Anyway, cracked this one open from Hardknott Brewery. 5.4 % CDA or Black IPA if you will. Not bad and I appreachiate the lower gravity (most seem to be north of 7 %). Not much hops in the nose, spoilt a bit by being over carbed, my tulip glass tends to exaggerate the head but much the same in normal glass. Tastes of Fuggle and Cascade with a good dry finish. Slightly musty oxidized taste (not sure how long it had been on the shelf). Would definatley buy in a pub but I've had superior home brew versions. T

Another of the Tebay haul.

Stringers - Furness Abbey, 7 %. Described as a dark strong Belgian ale brewed in Barrow in Furness!

FairPlay it was a really nice Belgian! Lots of Pilsner malt charecter. Must say apart from the colour, it tastes much more like a Triple than Belgian Strong Dark ale. I presume they have used some kind of dark candy sugar with pilsner malt. Very impressive. Think I prefer it to Westermalle! T

I'm sipping two fingers of Kentucky Bourbon with a drop of soda.

My wine is steadily fermenting and some is ageing along with my stout.

My two daughters has cleaned me out of strawberry turbo cider, need to put some more on.

last night i had a 2ltr bottle of weston scrumpy mixed to make a snakebite with some youngs harvest lager. 7 pints down and i woke up at 5am on the sofa.
my god it was epic :shock:

You know when you open a tub of stabiliser and that initial whiff of

Sulphite Stunty m'dear, give it a good mixing or let it mature a bit more,
Personally, I are 'ave 'ad 4 glasses of deep pink juice wine waiting for a blinkin' "scandisc" programme to finish working only to inform me that there was feck all problem in the first place but I have noticed that my "favourites" button has migrated back to the righthand side of the tool bar from the left side after a major system clean and reboot... :hmm: :ugeek: this one looks most like me :rofl:

As I won't be brewing own until after Christmas I am relying on bought bottles. Tesco is doing 4 for £5, including Shepherd Neame 1698. At £1.25 a pop it is almost half price (and you get to use the bottle again). Might have another later with Dr Who!
