We have the Instant vortex plus mentioned earlier in the thread they brought out a newer version after we bought ours which has a full size drawer with a removable divider allowing a much bigger chicken to be cooked so the earlier ones may now be discounted.

SWMBO decided she now wants this as it has the rotisserie so we now own the 14.5 litre version and I will be cooking a full chicken tomorrow to try out the rotisserie.

I am only guessing here, i would say compactness, being smaller they heat up quicker hence the saving on energy
Spot on, though the word 'fryer' is used out of context. Should it be roaster or baker, same results can be achieved in a fan forced oven but at a longer duration due to size and fan power. And you can't boil an egg in the oven but you can in an air fryer.

Spot on.

Think of it as a regular oven that you dont have to pre heat and it costs a lot less to run.

The one we now have has 16 presets from chicken to cake.

Chicken in and 22 minutes left (1.5 Kg chicken - 220c for 50 mins)

The dark coating is the seasoning its not burnt.

I need to make a better job of tying it up next time its flopping about a bit too much on the right hand side :laugh8:

£160 from Argos if anyone is interested - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/1409947?clickSR=slp:term:air fryer rotisserie:27:72:2

Snackies belly pork 28 minutes at 190c lovely

Looks good Rod.

We tried another full chicken last night again 220c for 50 minute 1.4 Kg bird, my string tying was much neater this time and it didn't flop about.

I finally got round to buying one of these thermometers from Tesco i have had one of the old clock face mushroom type ones for donkeys years and it has seen better days this is much easier to use.

Tesco £11 if anyone is interested in buying one - https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/307396493

i think they are a must in the kitchen, takes all the guess work out
I agree I have always been a bit wary when cooking chicken you see undercooked meat on the cooking programmes on TV often enough and these people are supposed to know what they are doing, I would definitely give the family food poisoning at some point without one. :D

I agree with the under cooked bit, like when they cook pork, i don't mind pink beef or lamb or duck but pork no way

Ok air fryer foodies, we have finally jumped on the bandwagon.
Mostly because the kids are now young adults & cook independently at different times & it's expensive to keep running the oven multiple times for oven chips etc.

Anyway, back to my question.
What do people think of the silicone liner things. Are they worth it?
I'm thinking saving the non stick in the fryer & being able to chuck them through the dish washer.

And is there any other accessories I should be thinking about

I can tell you what not to get - those paper liners. You'll end up turning the air fryer on with it in and forget it's there, and set the house on fire 🤣

If you don't already have one, a meat thermometer is essential.
