Hi all,

What do you store your bottles in?

Alot of you seem to be into collecting bottles from pub back doors and recycling areas  but in doing so i assume the bottles you collect are of different sizes and shapes!

I am currently storing my bottles in the cardboard boxes that they came in but the boxes are beginning to show signs of deteriation and i don't think they'll last much longer so im after an alternative.

I also have around 30 used Bombardier bottles almost ready for use and would like to store them safely, so have you any sugestions guys.

Thanks
Andy

Cleaned and stored ready to fill ......... :thumb:

I managed to snag some crates from a friendly local milkman that delivers to one of my neighbours. In return for a couple of bottle obviously.....

They are not quite tall enough for the bottles so they dont stack that well but that can be sorted with some carefully placed 'bits of wood'.

I store mine in the garage.

haha

For filled botles, to keep the different recipes separate, I use the boxes I buy beer in from Costco (12 to the box), or the boxes my kid's prescription bread comes in (16 to the box)
Empties go wherever there's space.

Couple of large plastic (empty) plantpots down the side of my garage. When brewing I bring them in, wash them thoroughly, then store in the garage in a couple of clean plastic garden buckets, lined with a plastic recycleing sack. When ready for bottling I bring them in, steralise, bottle etc.

Space is limited in the garage thanks to my Land Rover being in lots of bits in there, so keep them outside next to my glass recycling.

Sorry, i meant when full and for conditioning and transportaion from storage to fridge.

I have empties all over the place

A large cool bag for any clear bottles, a couple of clean large plastic garden tubs with a towel over the top to keep any sunlight off.

Actually, the first week of conditioning, when we want them warmish so the yeast still works, they mostly go at the top of the lower stairway (our "ground floor" is only ground level at the back, it's 1 storey up at the front so those stairs go down to the garage and front door). Then they go into the nice cool garage until drinky time.

I managed to pick up 7 crates on adtrader a while back. I'm looking for more as they really are the best solution that I've found so far.

Someone posted this thread a few weeks ago viewtopic.php?f=23&t=24020, I think I'm going to get a few more sets of crates from them, and sort out a corner of the shed for them all.
