Brewed a Märzen today. 3kg Vienna & 2.7kg Munich Type I. Tettnang at 60 & 15 minutes for 28 IBU. Have it on a yeast cake from a Wyeast 2206 Bavarian Lager 4 litre starter at 10C. 23 litres to the FV at 1.053 OG.
Decided to do an evening brew today a 11.5 L batch of the Graham Wheeler Exmoor Gold made using an all grain kit from Worcester Hop shop (who kindly agreed to scale their kits down to this).
Numbers wise it came in at 1.043, two points off target alas, but could be worse.
First brew day in over 6 months today. I had a box of pilsner malts, hallertau mittlefruh hops and some MJ Bavarian yeast that I bought late last year and couldn’t remember what recipe I was going to follow, so winged it a bit. Think whatever I had in mind may’ve been 2 recipes as the OG has come in at 1.074, which is massively over what I’d do for a lager. 21l in the fermenter so see how it turns out, and it was a nice day so brewed outside!
Evening midweek brew session..tunes on.. brewing MK2 Altbier.. trying to improve on the last recipe which I think had too much aromatic malt..ditches the aromatic and increased the Munich
Just about hit all the numbers this evening 1.046 SG hopefully should finish up around 4.7%
All done. Two points over target gravity same as last time. The 200g hopstand proved a little difficult by blocking the strainer in the kettle when I was dropping the wort to fv. A little scratch with a sanitised spoon sorted that out.
I must make every effort to get another brew on next week as my stocks are very low. Ideally I'd like to get one on tomorrow but I've got other stuff to attend to,unless I get up very early.
Trying to get my consistency dialed in so brewed my NEIPA recipe.
Weighed out and crushed the malt fresh as I will do for the repeat brew in 2 weeks.
Weighed out all of my hop additions and sealed them up so next time they should be exactly the same. The top pack is the whirlpool addition then two separate dry hop additions. Todays whirlpool addition is in a jar ready for the brew.
The tried and tested use a jug to hold the tube in place. Get very foamy oxygenated wort this way.
Got first dry hop in two days and the second one at day 7. Recorded the SG of the mash, pre boil and into the fermenter to check I can match it next time. Adjusted water chemistry at the start and will match next week.
Second brew in two days. Saison in the conical on the right, Irish Red in the brew bucket on the left. Can’t purge the keg of StarSan this time as there are two tubes heading it’s way.
But tomorrow I'm planning a Fisherman's Stout. I made this one from a recipe here in my very early days, and it turned out pretty decent, and I realised I had all the ingredients right there in the cupboard, so why not?
completely lost my brewing mojo recently but after a 9 month hiatus in a bid to get going again, have just put on a Razorback IPA kit.
In other news, I took delivery of a RAPT Pil recently and have had that going on a sugar wash this week as a trial and seems a really good piece of kit.

Today Matthew I brewed a Belgian Blonde Ale from the Hughes book..
Half batch in my brew devil. All went well until the leccy tripped and wiped my programmed brew. No drama. Finished on manual.
Recipe said SG 1070.
My hyro read 1067. Refractometer read 1070.
Pitched it with MJ M47 Belgian Abbey yest.
Hoping for a Leffe type beer.
Yammas!
Today it was 21 litres of my Guinness clone OG 1,049, ended up with 22 litres OG 1,052 . Happy with that 1,200 litres for souring, last time was 650 ml for souring could barely taste it.
