Is that a Catalyst? Nice? The new Fermentasaurus seems to “borrow” a few of the features from the Catalyst. I’ve always fancied one but couldn’t justify the price compared to the original Fermentasaurus, which I got for Christmas (but have been allowed to use for the last 4 or 5 weeks).

Yes it is Mick, it’s built like a tank albeit a plastic tank.

It has some advantages and some disadvantages over the current FS.

The main advantages are the much better valve and trub system, the plastic is far better and can withstand boiling water and the whole thing just places in the dishwasher making it a doddle to clean. It’s fits in my fridge fine but maybe big for others. And the thread is a standard mason/ball jar thread making the yeast/trub collection easy with the plentiful choices of recepticals.

You just cannot ferment under pressure like the. FS but can dispense to the keg with 1 PSI or so.

I think the new FS will be made out of the same material tbh with a bigger valve so it will loose some of its advantages.

I have a friend in the US so can dodge the tax, custom and handling charges.

Christmas Santy didn’t bring anything but birthday Santy brought me a bulldog grain mill, some grainfather cleaner, a carbonation cap and about 31kg of mixed grain. From what he brought, I’ll be doing a few chocolate stouts!

Not brew gear but a few kits:
2 Simply pale ale (one of my faves using different dry hop).
1 better brew IPA ( not done before and pleasantly surprised its a 2.1kg kit).

Three books:
Radical Brewing
Designing Great Beers
CAMRA's Essential Home Brewing
Plus a bench capper.

Thank you Santa.

A beer in the loire, book i received on Christmas day but also had some vouchers for birthday and Christmas so have ordered the yeast book and 5 litre minikeg kit from maltmiller. Also the promise of some money to use on eBay so on the lookout for a beer engine.

Bought a Concept mashing machine. Not bad for £179.99 including Postage and packing from Germany. Had one successful brew from it. It's soooo much easier.

Didn't get a single present but been a tough year. Roll on next year. All the best to you all . x

Looks the spit of a bulldog brewer!

Edit: in fact the 30l version looks like a BB in all but name, and at 230 notes is a bargain. No wort chiller though

Finally got my compensation payout after a hit ad run last year, so treated myself to an early Christmas present of a Grainfather.
Only had it for a week and 2 brews in it's already 1000 times easier and better than my old 1 pot BIAB on the stove.

I got a fair selection of beers...some of which I scoffed yesterday afternoon and got hammered. A little book on 300 beers to try and a bottle opener...very useful!
