i have pretty good results with this.

the only problem is the orange and black flow cotnrol dc can get stiff and doesnt really work great as a flow control. it sometiems sticks especially at the extreme open or closed position. keeping it clean helps. the best is too find a setting and leave it there. i find the length and narrow diamter of the tubing helps more than anything else.
i put together the contents in there for about 14 dollars i think at the time.

if you add a tap and this

it works even better than the cobra head but then you need to mount it.

i like my picnic tap 2.1 better but its like 30$ i think.

others have had good luck with keglands nukatap mini. which is sometime on sale.

whats the temp in your shed. ?

It's going to be between freezing and 10 degrees in the winter ill obviously cover with fleece or something when cold and leave alone when warmer I can sort any tap but would rather have one that works well looking forward to feed back

I now have a 4ltr, 2 x 8ltrs and a 20ltr Oxebar alongside my Corny, each are as easy to use as each other.

Took the 4ltr away in the motorhome last weekend and kept it in a powered coolbox, can’t do that with a corny….

Take the 8ltr kegs to my mates or the allotment if I’m sharing and run it off the 16gm bulbs without issue, but I prime the beer when kegging and use the gas to serve.

The 20ltr is being force carbonated off the 10kg bottle, would not try to do it with 16gm, but if primed with sugar at kegging then you could serve using the 16gm bulbs.

Highly recommend the Oxebars for the money and convenience.

in that case go with several feet of 5mm id evabarrier to a standard chrome tap.

I'm still looking at the options....are non kegerator kegs set ups better with a picnic type tap on a length of restricted pipe or are those flow control taps that can be clipped straight to the beer out and good? What about gassing two at once...a splitter from the reg?
Been also looking on BKT website at such things....for about £200 I can get 3 Oxebar 20 litre, keg mounted tap,gas line, decent regulator....

i feel i can answer this pretty well as i have been running both non kegerator kegs and minis and fulls. and all different oxebar sizes. in both mini fridges and a full size kegerator.

the picnictap 2.1 works very well for a tap then can just be thrown onto the keg.
splitting isnt an issue if you have manifold (duotight easier) or a simple splitter. the only issue is if the kegs are at sifferent pressures you will need valves and back flow check valves.

go with the 20 liter oxebars they have a lot of advantages overs traditional kegs.

main drawbakc is the tight opening. but that dont matter
and they do supposedly have a shelf life. - im not sure abotu this i think that after a certain amoutn of time they reccomend pressure hydro testing prior to use. but i dont know if that means they wont work after a time or not.

i love my oxy's

this website has great ideas and videos on minikegging and tap setups etc.

I just use picnic taps on all of my Oxebars and Corny. Don’t have a kegerator (yet) as space is limited but I do run the 4’s in a coolbox. I use the picnic tap and 16gm co2 and just open up the box, pour and close up, perfect in the campervan.

Will the tap that fits direct with flow control be OK ya think? Also, what do kegs respond like to being moved around? I'm hoping to store/gas in the garage then maybe move indoors for a jolly up.

My 4’s bounced around in the campervan for 120 miles, no clarity issues with the coopers lager. It had been fermed for 2 weeks, 2 weeks in secondary and 2 weeks in Keg including force carbing.

TC also travelled well

if primign in the keg then you may have issues with stirred up trub. but if you rack clear to the keg it shouldnt be an issue.

i find that the little 4 liter oxebars work great for transporting cleared beer in. just get jumper lines.

even when i dont prime i usually have a little sludge at the bottom of my kegs. i just rack clear to oxebars for smooth moving

The recent Youtube vid by TMM although describing building a mini kegerator actually has lots of good info on these types of kegs and relevant connections /spiltters and taps.

Why not just make a jockey box? Cheaper and if there is no power then no problem.
