That’s a great colour you got there. What malts did you use to achieve that bright orange?
Actually the photo is a little misleading! The sun was just at the right angle to really help emphasise the colour, but under 'normal' light it isn't quite so vivid!

Anyway, in a partial mash I used Gladfield Malts: 1.6kg Larger Light, 400g Toffee paired up with 1.7kg LME.
 
Amber Ale from Romney Marsh Brewery http://romneymarshbrewery.com. It's local to me and I've not tried their beer before. They were at the local Christmas market so I thought I'd give them a go with a mixed crate. This is the first bottle I've tried. Very drinkable 4.4%. Notes say "Amber in colour. Citrus and tropical fruit flavours from whole flower hops with a hint of caramel"

Last night I had 2 of the beers from the (Marston’s) golden ale box my in laws got me - Ringwood Boon Doggle (which incorrectly describes itself as “craft”) and Jennings Cicker Hoop. I’ve had the latter before a few years ago but not the former.

What surprised me was that the both tasted almost identical despite completely different descriptions on the bottle. I enjoyed them both, pretty standard big-brewery pale/golden ales.

Tonight I’m having the 2 Hacker-Pschorr lagers (Munich Gold and Kellerbier) that my wife got me for Christmas. I’ve had both before, and they come with handy flip tops.

They actually did well considering my FiL doesn’t drink and my MiL is clueless about beer. I find most of the Marsdens-owned breweries’ beers to be rather quaffable.

Also, I told my Mrs what she needed to get me!
 
Too much, including this lot. That's 4 To Øl beers, a Trouble Brewing and a Beavertown. Personally I find this of most modern beers, but all but one of these is overhopped.

Another 2 of the Marston’s tonight - Marston’s EPA and Wainwrights. Neither tasted the same as the other 2, which was a relief. The EPA clearly had some New World hops in and it was my favourite of the box so far. Wainwrights was nice, had a fruity tone but was another “standard” big brewery golden ale.

I wonder what the big brewery pricing model and economic challenges are. I mean to survive , what’s the cost per pint got to be ?
I drink so many standard boring pints these days - home brewing in some ways has destroyed the public social pint as most pubs only sell the standard crap these days.
Big breweries can’t be proud of their craft , it’s just brewing for profit ?

Overhopped! I didn't think that was possible 😁

:D Don't get me wrong, I love a hoppy IPA, but why do craft breweries have to cram massive amounts of hops into every style? There was a saison, wit, weisse and American wheat and they all tasted like IPAs.

Had the last 2 bottles tonight. Whereas the EPA last night was probably my favourite of the lot, tonight’s first bottle (Brakspear Gold) is probably my least favourite. Very bitter but with hardly any malt flavour.

Hobgoblin Gold I’ve had dozens of times so knew what to expect. I’m still convinced they’ve changed the recipe since the first couple of times I’ve had it (Nelson Sauvin shortage?) but it’s a steady, flavourful, easy drinking golden ale.
 
Sipping on this barel aged blackforest imperial stout from cloudwater, whilst waiting for the new year fireworks
Smells of coconut, cherries and vanilla. Lovely and smooth hides its 12% abv well. This is an absolute cracker
