Trying to make my NZ Helix Pale Ale last until my Cold Crash Lager is done

Had a day out in Lancaster today- both daughters have been / are at Uni there and we met up with the younger girl who is living in town this year. Mrs S and her Mum and Dad made up the happy party.

On the beer front, I had a Brewdog Punk IPA at the Craft Scholar in town and a Blonde Witch (Moorhouses?) with a great meal on the way home. Then back home to a Soviet Stout (an RIS without the initially planned Coopers Stout kit) and a GH Single Hop style beer made with the Strisselspelt hops that I picked up from my usual supplier in Worcester.

Got home just in time to watch Northampton go from being ahead against Leinster 6-13 to go on to lose 60-13. (Home team - Away team).

No, there is no typo in the above sentence. Northampton conceded 8 unanswered tries in Dublin in around 50 mins of playing time.

What was your opinion of the Punk IPA?

What was your opinion of the Punk IPA?

Distinctive, in the sense that there is a fairly large hop presence, along the lines of an English Cascade, but a lot more so.

Did I enjoy it - Yes.
Would I do a session on it - Hmm.

Is it worth chasing down the "Big Hop" presence in my own HB beers - No.

I get the "floral" sensation from a lot less hop addition myself and find that x5 it is just more intrusive as opposed to necessarily more enjoyable. Perhaps overly hopped is "twee" as opposed to merely "sweet" from my perspective?

Water, and lots if it, because I literally drank till I was sick last night  Don't think I've done that since I was a teenager.

St Stefanus blonde tonight for me. Lovely stuff and at 7% it's taking the edge off.

Looking forward to my trip to Ghent in March.

I couldn't do a session on it either, in fact,a couple of hoppy beers a night is my max,not that i dont like them, probably my favourite style of beer tbh but they are a treat rather than something to guzzle.
It used to be my fav beer when i first got away from Bud,Coors etc but now i far prefer anything from the Tempest Brewery, i just think they have the balance perfect, Long White Cloud or Armadillo are better beers for me.
Cheers

Think I mentioned it elsewhere but I am drinking a lot from Vocation at the moment. Helps that Tesco near me are doing some decent beers (aforementioned included) currently, 3 for £5 etc... I have got a craft brew shop near me but recently they took all prices away, went in and spent over £17 on 4 beers
Have a few Kona Big Waves left in the fridge so that may be my night tonight.

Got a 4 pack of Petrus Dubbel Bruin from Lidl for £4.99 and I have to say it's really very good, flavours of raisin, cherry, caramel and spice, like fruit cake in a glass.

6.1% First Gold Pale Ale using hops from the garden brewed in October ..turned out really well.

I will have to get some of those if they are in my local store.

I have had a large glass of elderberry wine from @meirion658, and what a lovely wine it was.

Also just finished a bottle of brewdog's Zeitgeist
