Just had apint of my raspberry wheat extract beer. Would i re brew it?,debatable. It's a nice colour, tart but not overpowering in taste, refreshing as well, however i certainly wouldn't want more than one at a time.

One of the good things about getting old and forgetful is that you forget that today was supposed to be a 'dry' day, and you come home from work all hot and sweaty, and straight away pour yourself one of these:

This is a Summer Ale from Greg Hughes' excellent book 'Home Brew Beer'.

Just noticed that it is all fuzzy. As the glass is now empty, maybe I should refill it and try and take a better photo. Well, I think I'll definitely refill it and then consider whether I bother with another photo!

So, right now I am enjoying a very cheeky mid-week pint. It's an AG brew from the Greg Hughes book - Northern Brown Ale. I had some Cascade pellets (30g?) in the freezer and added them 5 days before bottling. This is a really nice combination, drunk very early at only 6 weeks (minus 2 days) from pitching.

I understand that Hobgoblin is a similar beer, but using Goldings & Fuggles as the dry hop perhaps?

If I were to reprise this one, it would most likely be English hops - Goldings and something open and in the freezer.

Sadly not homebrew as I'm all out (got two on the go).

Left to right, currently on bottle 3. I do love a bit of Siren Craft. 😉

good selection if you've no hb atm.

Jaipur is not as awesome as it used to be either they changed the recipe or lupulin threshold shift, try a bengali from 'spoons :-)

It's a good mix. I love Thornbridge and Siren Craft. Hopefully from next week I'll never be out again!

My own version of Woodfordes Nog. With added DME, half a tin of Black treacle and half a bar of Bournville plain chocolate. Full bodied, but not enough chocolate.....next time, the whole bar..!

So far tonight-
My first bottle of coopers treacle stout - brewed to 6.5% - 6 weeks since I started it and it's bloody gorgeous!
Then, my first bottle of brewdog IPA - this one went to over 8%, it drinkable but too sweet, a little thin and has very little maltiness. It was overwhelmingly grapefruity when I bottled it so I added 3 drops of cascade hop extract per bottle to 10 bottles, and that has saved it frankly!
Now, I'm having a Wherry, brewed to 4.8% and about 12 weeks since it was started. It's at its best and tastes fab! Got about 15 bottles left and it's at the sweet spot now I reckon :)
Next - another brewdog IPA but with citra hop extract, probably similar to the last bottle but citra flavoured!

Im having my first night ever where I've actually got a selection of the fruits of my labour to enjoy and one common theme I've got to report is - good, great or indifferent, none of them taste like homebrew! Bloody result eh!

for my regular Saturday afternoon session I have started off with hobgoblin pumpkin ale,not my favourite hobgoblin but easily drinkable, its gotta be done:mrgreen:
