Finished work for the week...thank the lord! It was tough going back after an extended Christmas break.
Anyway...its the weekend!
Just battled it out to Ice Station Zebra (the garage) in trepidation that my beer might be frozen!
It's not thankfully but the cold is putting it in fine fettle! The Tribute is now spot on,once it warms up a bit!

someone brought in a buckfast comparison to sample which was a bit lost on me being a southerner I’ve never actually heard of it before!

Oh my god! Never thought I'd see Buckfast on this forum 🤣 not sure if this is just a west of Ireland thing but that was the teenage quick route to non sobriety in my day.
"Bottle of B for the lads before causin trouble. Bukky all round" 🤣🤣🤣

An addition to post # 193:
The tasting of our best bitters is over.
My favourite is number two in picture 193 from the right.
A name has been found: "Saxon's Best Bitter".
The Best Bitter has a full malt body with a good mouthfeel, a light caramel flavour and a moderate bitterness on the finish.
Stable foam, as is usual in Germany. The colour is bright amber, the beer is crystal clear.
ABV is at the upper limit at 4.6.
I will report on the competition result in March.

Finished brewing a batch of Pilsner and it’s in the fermentor so might as well have a bottle of the previous batch of Pilsner.

It’s rather effervescent, and fairly high on the carbonation giving it a slight bight from the carbonic acid, hops provide a good underlying bitterness, it’s not an exceptional Pilsner but it’s still not bad at all either.

I’ve been in Holland for a few days with work, didn’t manage to take any pictures of the various beers, the only one I can remember is proper Leffe Blonde.

Got home to no gas so have bought a few locally ish beers.

First up from Holdens what seems reading the back a SMASH beer, just Maris Otter & Fuggles and it’s a very nice pint.
