We've finally opened @Clint's Oatmeal Stout. Sorry for the delay Clint!

The beer has been out of the fridge about half an hour warming up.

In appearance it's jet black with a decent tan-coloured head that lasted a few minutes, even after pre-pouring into a jug.

Carbonation level just right for a stout, with a body which is on the higher side of medium.

There's a very faint pruney aroma, and maybe a teensy bit of sulphur. The latter is hardly noticeable though.

Very smooth, lightly-bittered stout with a light roasted flavour, which is balanced nicely with some dark fruits and maybe a hint of nut.

Overall a very good example of an Oatmeal Stout, thanks again for sending us it, we have enjoyed it. 😊

Beer52 coffee porter. The roast barley and coffee flavour has melded together and can’t distinguish them individually. A bit of taste fatigue as it’s very strongly roasty. Not my thing really, reminds me of the wrong kind of coffee.
After this disappointment that I’m not really sure was porter to start with I have decided to have a go myself. I opened a mature brown porter bottle and added 4g of coarse ground light roast coffee from Origin. I figure 10g/l is about the maximum practical dose before the coffee would become the major expense. The missing 1g from that calculation I spilled all over the kitchen as it didn’t in fact fit in the bottle on top of the beer. It will have 24hours cold steeping and hopefully be able to pour through a tea strainer!
