It was only a little bottle of tonic mind, so there's still plenty of the (her) gin left.
OK I did have a v.small glass too, just to use up the dregs of the tonic you understand.

Then it was dinner with good-ol' Lindemans bin 65 chardonnay

Just right with a Karai Murgh, that's curried chicken with onions, and fresh roti bread and courgette on the side.
All made from scratch by SWMBO'd.

I am surprised I am not seeing more Australian wines on this forum, I am eating more Pommie cheese thanks to the FTA

Peculiarly we bought the Lindemans not in England but on a day trip in a Calais booze store!
There are even apps. now to reclaim the lesser French VAT as you pass through the ferry or Eurotunnel customs zones to make it fully duty free.
It makes economic sense for us as we live close to the Channel port of Dover.
And of course we buy French cheeses to bring home too.

Just back from a trip to Norfolk where I helped support the local economy by drinking lots of Wherry and Barsham Oaks.

Home now and having a glass of my Schwarzbier while I contemplate oiling my decking.

Talking of which, I remember now I didn't post this from my brother's 70th B/D bash last Sunday in The Westow, Crystal Palace :

Brixton dark mild just a little sweet for me, followed by a Five Points XPA which was like a slightly lower abv Neck Oil.
The evening started with a London Pilsner by Portobello brewery, tasty (not excessive) whack of smoky/burnt malt. Not too fizzy, loved it.
All the other beers had run out!

I don’t think we get as good Aussie wines as we used to, or perhaps they are more expensive.

After spending 3 days trying as many vineyards as we could in th Hunter Valley ( of which Blueberry Hill was my favourite) I get the impression it’s a bit like Italian wines they keep the best for themselves.

Oh I'm not so sure about that - it's just that we economic minded Brits aren't keen on the prices of their really good stuff.
When Vinopolis / Majestic were at Borough arches I bought some affordable Penfolds Bins 407, 128, 28, 389 wines on their mixed case discount prices. Wonderful wines.
They are available here still but I can't afford them here now!
All the supermarkets offer is the bulk transported / bottled over here bucket wine as that's what we will pay for.
