Broadside was my first introduction to real ale. I vaguely recall the cask version used to be stronger, more in line with the bottled version. There is a big difference in bottle vs cask. It is a stunningly good beer in the bottle. Even though my tastes have moved on from real ale, this mc'ewans champion and fullers 1645 are still great brews.Broadside cask is 4.7% but bottled is 6.3% they must be vastly different beers
fullers 1645 is worth a go chippy its a bit richer and without the EKGI have a couple of bottles of 1698 in the fridge its one beer i keep coming back to when i have tried something different.
SnapThat too. I’m so ashamed!
That looks rather spiffing!
How was it? I saw it in Sainsburys but decided to pass - I’ve fallen foul of too many winter warmers in the past!Sainsbury's have their winter range out now. Their winter warmer was lovely last year. This year it's from a different brewer (Badger) but has the same lovely berry amd stewed plum character.
