In a break from my habit of the last few days I’m starting today with a porter. Lovely coffee and chocolate aroma, flavour is mostly coffee with a little chocolate.

That looks very good! So is a porter a type of stout? I love a stout but still learning my way around what different beer names actually relate to or are similar to.

Whatever it is, it sounds up my street😁

Not quite but they do share a lot of similarities. Porter perhaps sits between a stout and a dark mild. You can buy porter in most supermarkets if you haven’t tried one before. London Porter is probably one of the most commonly available I think.

I will give one of those a go, cant say I have ever tried one but I have seen London Porter.

Having just put 4 new tyres on my car(just cheap ones mind!) I'm feeling a little delicate as "cheap ones" now cost at least £80 each!
I'm calming my nerves with a sit in the sun with a wheat beer...which is nice. And,solemnly contemplating the return to the asylum tomorrow...ah well!

My punk clone. Absolutely looks nothing like it but tastes good!

Well, I followed advice and trying a Porter, couldnt find London Porter in lidl so went with their own brand. It's actually very nice indeed, like a lighter softer Guinness. It's also only 135 calories and 5g carbs for 500ml bottle at 4.5%

Just in case anyone needs to justify it lol, it's like a diet beer😁

From lidl I suggest trying Green Gecko, Luminous nights and Patronus wheat beer from their own range. Also some main brand beers like Leffe blond, Proper job, Banks bitter and Salt casual pale are currently available.

I didn’t care for the Lidl porter but the trouble is you don’t know if it’s just a bad bottle when you try it once.

I don't get expensive tyres Clint, I don't use the roads like a race track and have never lost control on a bend due to not having a big name brand on each corner.

Got to look past the brand, a lot of places are tied into contract with certain providers. I always compare the various ratings to see which is best.
