We’ve arrived in Cornwall after a really rather long drive down , all unpacked, found the local shop, pizza bought and cooked for a first night quickie meal, and now all unpacked. Still in work focussed task and finish mode after chairing a 3.5 hr meeting this morning from my mums office. I’ve promised the OH that I will relax a bit this holiday and stop thinking about work. This local beer is at least a start… and breathe out.

That’s a pretty decent sample of the guava kettle sour 😍. Out of interest, what is it about this fruit sour that is better than the other fruit beers you’ve tried? I ask because I’m making several fruited sours and nit sure what makes the difference between a good and a really good one.
I am normally not a big fruit beer fan but I do very much enjoy a fruited sour apparently. I guess the big difference is it's not trying to be a beer with fruit but act more like a traditional sour beer from Belgium. It's a kettle soured fruit beer so I was expecting something like a berliner weisse or Flanders red rather than a raspberry wheat beer for example. I have a citrus wheat and a fruity IPA at home that I just despise because of the description. But a fruity hazy IPA with no fruit is delicious.
I guess it's all expectation?

Anyway here is the description it's a lot of fruit apparently if you are interested and 7.1% which I did not expect.

Switching off when you take your job seriously is hard. I can’t say I ever mastered it to be honest (I worked all through my holiday because it was less stressful to keep on top of things) so retirement has likely been a lifesaver. Do take care of yourself as best you can.

Enjoy! If you need any insider help from a conrishman just shout! 👍

I shall look forward to trying that at a future homebrew club night.
Fingers crossed it comes out good. I had to use S-04 in the end. For the second time made a starter with British ale 2( think it's Adnams strain). Didnt look very active starter so decided to change the yeast. Second time I have planned to use it and wasn't too confident from the look of the starter activity..that strain is obviously not for me😂

Not been on here for a while as my wife was sick. Down the caravan again and pulled out the last of the saision and luckily it’s a 5l mini keg.
No heat wave here and it’s just started raining ffs. Very dry in the awning though. Cheers.

That's what you get for living in Ireland. 😉

Hope the wife's ok now. 👍
