I was down visiting my mum and dad this evening. I got home at midnight. When I got in the door I was really looking to a beer. My brother in law bought me a few beers for my birthday a few weeks ago. So I started with a Wicklow Wolf Oatmeal Stout, it was gorgeous, now I’m enjoying a hoppy red ale which is delicious. I’d love another oatmeal stout. I’ll be going to bed after this.

It’s the youngest son’s 26th birthday and we’re at Ambiente in York centre, having a meal and a few drinks before the last bus back at 6pm.

I am sharing a rosé sangria pitcher with my DIL, and we’re having various tapas.

I‘m thinking of naming this beer ”Mistakes Where Made” it’s a Saison made with Aurora and Saaz however when adding the honey I added a tad more than I meant to (do not add honey to beer while under the influence) so rather than the somewhat session strength 5% my Saisons normally turn out at this is 7% and tastes a bit like a cross between a mead and a Saison, its pretty tasty though so I can’t exactly complain but likewise drinking it on an empty stomach is probably not the best move.

I was drinking my attempt at Black Sheep Bitter (GW recipe) until rain stopped play. This one is my best attempt yet at a Yorkshire bitter using the Brewlab Yorkshire Yeast and it tastes so balanced and harmonious that it wouldn't surprise me if Brewlab Yorkshire was in fact the Black Sheep yeast.

OK so I overshot the ABV and it's 4.7% so can I call it Black Sheep Export or something like that?

Trying my latest cider, decided to go very basic and use bread yeast hence the name (Jile is a local word for jail). I've tried to replicate how prison inmates would make their cider with what they have available to them. I'm chuffed with how it's turned out.
