Showing the kids the delights of the mumbles and the gower today.

Great day out. Started with a punk ipa at lunch. Haven't had it on tap for a few years and it wasn't bad. I know it gets bad press but it went down well.

Finished off with a Gower brewery, lighthouse lager. A lovely pint from one of their pubs, rake and riddle @dad_of_jon will know it well.
you should have popped in for some freebies... you'd surely have passed my house.

First, a Pint of Ind Coope Double Diamond from Wheeler's Euro book. Went into the cornie star bright due to being in the primary for ages. Now cloudy as f**k. Nice though.

Now a pint of Lovibond XB. Went in clear, been conditioning for 84 days. Tastes absolutely fantastic. Cloudy as f**k.

I just cannot produce clear beer from cornie kegs. Period.
These are not the fist pints from the kegs are they? You’d expect the first pints to be a bit mucky because the beer is drawn from the bottom and will pick up the sediment.

The Cali Common and Ind Coope, yes. The Lovibond XB, I would say about pint # 7? Perhaps I should go on a massive session, photographing every pint, to eliminate all other variables and see if I eventually get a clear pint? Purely in the interests of science, you understand. 😁

I'm not totally convinced it's yeast, as none of the beers have that yeast taste. But the kegerator is set to cellar temp (13° c) so I'm doubtful it's chill haze. It's all very odd.

Only a little will be yeast, the rest will be other particles such as protein, hop debris, etc. I think a good session should break through the haze (nothing wrong with a bit of experimentation 😉 )

Footy is terrible so time to try my freshly kegged Mountain IPA. Did a second dry hop with it as the first one went wrong. Very citrusy and chewy!
Needs a week or so to carb up properly and smooth out a little.

Next time. Trying to convince the wife to try the Gowerton site instead of the usual stay in pembrey. I will be able to cycle to the rake for a few beers.

Going to pop into my beer park whilst I am here
Im visiting beer park tomorrow, if you're staying at the gowerton site next to elba do pm me - I'm even nearer than the rake :-) . not much under 6% thought and nothing under 5. :laugh8: - you can use having to get supplies in from Esso/Tesco garage as an excuse.

Irish Red brewed by @Jim Brewster. Similar recipe to my own, but bittered with mugwort as an added twist. Wasn’t sure about the mugwort at first sip, but by the second or third I’d totally came round. It’s got a very individual taste the suits the style. Cheers again Jim :beer1:
