Little sample of my latest American Amber that I have just kegged. Hops are centennial, Simcoe and Amarillo. Finished at 1.012 for 5.4%. little hop bite from the sample but good flavours and aroma so it has promise I think.

A mini celebration today.

We’ve been out most of the day in Beverley, watching my son play cricket. It was the cup final so he asked us if we wanted to go along.

Beverley were the opposing team, but my son plays for Ovington CC. They are based at York Racecourse. He’s been playing for them since he was about 13 - he’s 26 now.

They only went and won the trophy! Proud mother moment as he walks off after getting his 21 runs for the team, and then later collects his mini trophy along with the main trophy for the team.

Anyway, here are a few pics of today and the lovely vocation brewery beer that I’m celebrating with. This one is a winner!

A bottle of my Aurora Saaz Saison while it was perfectly drinkable when I was drinking it young after two months in the bottle it has improved dramatically the hops have mellowed and it is nicely carbonated.

Enjoying a few ESB's from batch #3 .
Bittered / late additions with with Challenger and Target, dry hopped with Fuggles.
Day 20 in the barrel and conditioning nicely, has lost a little of it's earlier sweetness - thought I'd overdone it with dark crystal but is now evening out.
Hit the numbers on this one so it's a proper ESB at 5.8% ( though still quaffable ! )

I’m starting with an English bitter while I cook up one of our favourite meals, fillet steak on a bed of mushrooms with fondant potatoes and a side of spinach.

Hit the trails a bit ago for a long run, back home now and the water is heating up. Figure some lunch and a belgian IPA is in order. Yeah I know need to work on lowering oxygen in my hoppy brews.

Light, refreshing, slightly dank hops, lovely dry finish. Not tart but very crisp and clean. Good stuff.

English bitter from the polypin (after 3 weeks in bag 10L in a box).
M/O
Light crystal,
Smidgen of dark old EDME DMS.
Challenger bittering 60mins,
Loads of my local hand picked frozen-in-the-green Goldings at 15mins and at 75°C whirlpool.
First brew in new to me Hopcat 30L.
Salvaged many generations Nottingham yeast.
First served yesterday evening to discerning family at wedding evening.
Roundly praised as a lovely full flavoured and dry bitter finish beer.
Who could wish for anything more?
And check tasting photo from the night before.
It's gotta be done.
