Wyeast 1214
I still have some slurry in the fridge. It's a nice yeast but I think I prefer WLP 530
That's interesting you don't like it as much as the Westmalle yeast. What is it missing?

I have been wanting to try the chimay yeast WLP500 or 1214 for a while but haven't sourced any belgian dark syrup for a dubbel yet. I also will probably go with the White labs 500 as I have not had good luck with Wyeast. I also think I prefer chimay blue to westmalle dubbel, they are both fantastic. Westmalle trippel is my favorite trippel however.

I wouldn't say I dislike wyeast 1214 but it's really slow to start. My first brew actually stressed me out. 2 full days with zero activity. Funny enough my next brew with it will be a Belgian dubbel then a Belgian pale with hallertau Blanc and mosiac.

That's for Xmas time, we watch it a couple times a year too.
My son is 9 it seems to be his favourite a long with the Goonies. Two classics it beats some of the stuff he watches on you tube. How can children watch people open and play with toys is beyond me 🤔

For the last day of my hols in Norfolk it would be rude not to.
(p.s. well done Cav)

Slightly fruity, light bodied and surprisingly refreshing. Very good. In the light it's a translucent dark red. I love Titanic Plum Porter and this is just as good but the fruit is much more subtle.

Something a bit different from Shepherd Neame and I don’t remember seeing it before. The label says it’s “A light easy drinking ale with low bitterness, with hints of orange and a refreshing citrus hit courtesy of Citra hops”. I though orange? Citra? Then I took a swig and the orange is quite obvious. It’s nice.
…wait…what’s that? Looking back at the ingredients it’s natural orange flavouring. It is still quite nice but the flavour is a bit perfumed.

Call me a purist, but do you think that's a bit naughty of them?
I don’t mind them using flavourings at all but I don’t like to be misled so it would be better if it were more obvious when flavourings are used.

The phrase “courtesy of Citra hops” clearly applies to the citrus hit but by also listing orange without any further punctuation might be considered a bit misleading.

I have to say I bought the beer because it’s from a brewery I have trusted and it’s listed on the front label as a “Citrus IPA” so at the time of purchase I had no idea. I don’t tend to check the ingredients when buying a beer from a brewery I trust.
