Another guest ale. This is a 7% Doppelbock from
@samale.
It’s a nice deep brown colour tinged with red when held to the light. Carbonation is just right. The light tan head dissolved to a ring around the glass after a minute or two.

The aroma is mild chocolate, and punchy dark malt.
The flavour is led by that punchy dark malt - a blend of almost burnt malted wholemeal bread crust and a touch of liquorice. I’m not getting much chocolate in the flavour despite there being a note of chocolate in the aroma. There is just a little sweet dark sticky fruitiness like medjool dates but this really is all about the malt - I like that
Mouthfeel is pretty full and there’s a slight tackiness on my lips so I’m guessing this ale finished with quite a high FG but apart from that the finish is clean.
There’s nothing here I don’t like. To me this is a well-made beautiful Doppelbock and I’m really enjoying it.
