Having a pint of @Hazelwood Brewery Czech Pilsner. This is the second time I have had this I think. Still tasting great, may be a little better now as I think it has smoothed out a little. Tasty brew🍺

Glad to see the sun today.

After work I had to pitch in with the builders as the lorry of concrete was late. Everyone was glad of a cold beer once finished.

I was expecting everyone to ask for a lager - it run out at it weekend. But to my surprise they wanted pale ales, with one telling me about his beer 52 subscription. The riwaka pale went down well. I tried the Talus pale, needs to time to condition.

Now time to soak my blisters

A belgian single from @samale , unfortunately quite flat,so no head despite a vicious poor. Hazy golden colour, a mild spicy floral aroma, tastes lovely, much the same as the aroma with a sweet finish, medium bodied I'd say. I'm really enjoying it, just needs a bit more fizz!

I don't know what happened with the carbonation. I have a had few under carbonated the rest have been spot on. Flavour is nice 👌

Another guest ale. This is a 7% Doppelbock from @samale.

It’s a nice deep brown colour tinged with red when held to the light. Carbonation is just right. The light tan head dissolved to a ring around the glass after a minute or two.

The aroma is mild chocolate, and punchy dark malt.

The flavour is led by that punchy dark malt - a blend of almost burnt malted wholemeal bread crust and a touch of liquorice. I’m not getting much chocolate in the flavour despite there being a note of chocolate in the aroma. There is just a little sweet dark sticky fruitiness like medjool dates but this really is all about the malt - I like that ;)

Mouthfeel is pretty full and there’s a slight tackiness on my lips so I’m guessing this ale finished with quite a high FG but apart from that the finish is clean.

There’s nothing here I don’t like. To me this is a well-made beautiful Doppelbock and I’m really enjoying it.

Oh go on then, I wasnt going to have another but reading that review made me drink it too. I think hazelwood describes it perfectly, though I think I get a hint of choc, mocha almost, but who cares, it's a lovely beer this @samale !

After being locked up for so long I can forgive you for drinking it 😜
In normal times you couldn't give it away for free

"Belgian Pale Ale" by @pilgrimhudd

I like the bottle design, a fun twist on the Belgian flag.

It's well carbonated and clear enough to see the steady stream of bubbles from the bottom of the glass that keep the head going.

I'm not a massive fan of many Belgian beers as the clove flavours that are often present don't do it for me, though I am starting to appreciate them more.

This one has certainly got lots of clove going on - the flavour reminds me a lot of La Chouffe though the colour is a bit darker being more of a pale amber. It's crisp, it's light and it's certainly refreshing.

This isn't a style I would rush to drink tonnes of but that's just down to my own tastes. It's a well made beer and I thoroughly enjoyed this one 👍🍻
