Witbier....white beer. I may be wrong but they don't always have to have wheat...
I think you are right in a literal translation but I think the whiteness came from the cloudiness of unmalted wheat. I'm not aware of any Belgian wits that don't use wheat... My wider point was more whether style descriptions on packaging mean anything more if you can essentially call a beer anything you like. Perhaps they never did!

I once brewed a Hazy IPA that turned out crystal clear. I continued to call it my Hazy IPA - though mostly to take the micky out of myself. 😜

Amazing colour considering I only used Pilsner, extra pale and homemade candi syrup. I got an immediate hit of breadcrusts whilst I was pouring followed by a rich dark fruit fig aroma. Lots of the same in the flavour, very complex and boozy, low bitterness and quite sweet, but not cloying, it actually finishes fairly dry with a slight velvet chocolate lingering on the tongue. Nice medium carbonation and a small creamy white head that fades to a thin rim and then disappears. It's still fairly young, I bottled this on the 31st of January. I feel it could use a few more months to mellow out the alcohol, but it's pretty damn good either way.
Woo I wanna try that !

All round nice beer, to kick off Friday.

These have been popping up on my Facebook all week so thought I would give them a try as the advertisers have worked so hard. Tesco’s 4 330ml cans for £4 and it’s a very nice if rather run of the mill hazy.
happy Friday all.
