This hot weather is making me thirsty, can’t wait until summer - especially with a few friends or family to join in. You’re all welcome! 🥳

@obscure I did say you’re all welcome 😜

Small consolation at the moment (sadly while posting on Internet forums is considered acceptable time wasting while at work I suspect drinking a pint while on the phone to the auditors is not a wise move). One thing I suppose to envy about my parents generation where the three drink lunch on a Friday was arguably not just allowed but mandatory in some fields.

I recently retired from the NHS and things are very strict now on drinking but when I first started things were a little more relaxed. Drink was provided in the form of on-site social clubs with working-men’s clubs prices. Bloody Nirvana!

5 minutes to go, just time for the head to settle... 😉

Well it’s 4 o’clock and I have shut my work laptop down and made the perilous commute down the stairs to the fridge, A bottle of GH Biere de Garde it’s had three weeks in the bottle and while it’s not as flat as it looks it’s got a fairly gentle level of carbonation taste wise well I would say it’s closer to a Saison, and has the distinctive peppery spice note to it honestly not sure if it was me mashing too low or the Wyeast French Saison but it came in at 1.002 and while not quite,what I was expecting is a lovely beer non the less.

I think Biere de garde needs a lot longer to mature so maybe given time...

Good to hear it’s still nice though!

Happy four o'clock finish Friday folks! Stocks of conditioned house ale at the Stoutwolf Inn are unfortunately perilously low. Time for the oaked rhubarb wine and commercial reinforcements to step-up and carry the load for a while...

Alas I suppose the clue is in the name either way the big advantage with bottling is being able to see how a beer evolves over time.

Seems like we have a worthy competitor for beer photo of the night.
