Thanks for the feedback of all these beers, much appreciated and glad you enjoyed them. Hoppy Amber Ale v3 is still a month or two away but this is really helpful input.Ok, last one of @matt76 beers for the night (probably).
Well two actually, no pics as i've poured 4 glasses for me and the mrs of the 2 versions of Matts Amber Hoppy Ales matt76's Brewdays | Page 23 | The HomeBrew Forum and matt76's Brewdays | Page 21 | The HomeBrew Forum .
Just to get the obvious out the way first and you did mention it, v2 needs more fizz.
V1, pours lovely, head which lasts, beautifully clear, strong piney resiny aroma, taste similiar to aroma, bitterness perfect for me. Medium mouthfeel, this is lovely beer mate.
V2, Pretty similiar to above but less aroma and bitterness. What I would say is that as it warms it improves a lot, perhaps i didn't let V1 warm up enough because I drank it too quickly. My mrs prefers this one.
For me V1 is as near to perfect as you can get, I loved it and I will be copying this recipe for sure!!
I agree, it's up there with the 3C's IPA and WeizenbockYes, you hit the nail on the head there, not quite fruity enough, change of yeast is a good shout. I'm really glad you enjoyed it, I have to say that I think this is one of the best I've brewed.
Sorry Sam but there is only one black pudding, the world famous Bury black pudding but i will look out for the one in your pic, i just googled it and i see it's made with beef blood i will have to get someNot sure if you get this in England but this is the dogs ball's of the black pudding world

Any time we go visit the wife’s sisters in hull we have to bring a large bag of the mince with us. Can’t make a stew with anything else.I have an uncle who is living in Dublin nearly 30 years. He still looks for Doherty's mince and sausages when we visit. Doherty's is a local butchers in Derry.
Can I ask who the culprit was so as to avoid...?Had the same problem. Went out for some Thai food and had a bottle from a local brewery branded for the restaurant and the diacetyl taste was over powering. Messaged the brewer to ask if he had any other complaints and he went off on one !! I wasn’t giving out just asking if he had had any feedback to the same. At £5 a bottle I expected more. Haven’t touched his beers since.
Avoid their Massey Red Ale at all costs...I got a bottle of hillsted farm 'horny bull stout' from Tesco that was so sour it tasted like a Brett stout. I emailed them, telling them there might be an infection and tried my best to identify it. I wasn't looking anything in return but they didn't even acknowledge the email. They won't be getting any of my money ever again.
Rough brothers. Can I ask who the culprit was so as to avoid...?
Never tried it, never will. I won't waste my money on their products ever again. I had a bottle of their squealing pig IPA in a bar one night. It was infected so bad, I almost barfed up. Seriously, do they not check this stuff before giving it to retailer's?Avoid their Massey Red Ale at all costs...
I've met one of them a few times as he is a member of the Maiden City Brewers club..Rough brothers.
You do know they're affiliated to this forum in a roundabout way..Never tried it, never will. I won't waste my money on their products ever again.
