Always the sign of a great beer 😂
I'm having to have a glass of my own IPA just to take the horrible oxidised taste away.
I am reminded of the 'can homebrew be better than commercial beer' thread I was reading this morning - although maybe not a fair comparison as mine hasn't been sat in an unrefrigerated shop/warehouse for 9 months

Just opened a bottle of Adnams Lighthouse, the first time I have tried it and not impressed. Has a slight metallic aftertaste. I'll stick to their Ghost Ship or Broadside I think.

For a change of pace I'm drinking this 2017 vintage cider, made from the apples of a single tree in Swanley and kindly given to me in a bottle swap with a local cider maker (who I originally met via the forum) i know Swanley isn't renowned for it's cider apples but this is dry, mildly appley and super clean for 7% abv.
Absolutely delicious and sums up what I love about homebrew - would never be drinking this if I didn't brew.
acheers.

👏👏👏👏

Hi I'm currently having a trip down memory lane when all the pubs near me only had naff versions of lager. For me back then it was like a revelation to all those tasteless lagers. Good old Newcastle brown ale. But it don't seem to be as good as it used to be! Still better than Skol tho thumb.

My local Lidl had some 750ml bottles of Leffe Brune for a very reasonable £2.49 so i snapped a few up ,

I am finding them very nice indeed , very mild caramel tones make it very drinkable .

I'm polishing off a bottle of red wine tonight. Needed finishing.

In the late 80's Newcastle Brown was my go to beer where the cask Bateman's was either not available or of dubious quality. As I was a young un, that meant I was often in clubs and bars where that was the case so I've supped a lot of the stuff over the years. Despite what Heineken claim, I had one recently and it's nothing like it used to be in my opinion. Sam Smith's Nut brown or Maxim's Double Maxim are much more akin to how I remember Newkie.
