Just had a fantastic Saison from @Clint and hoping to make my own soon.
I know that feeling, I am on my last night shift myself.... I can taste the beer already.Finished an awful set of nights this morning, day off tomorrow so i've had a few this evening, mainly homebrew, however my last two have been a Brewdog Layer Cake, Marshmallow chocolate stout. I'm not usually a big fan of Brewdog beer, I find them over hopped and overhyped mainly, this was quite nice though. Very sweet chocolatey aroma. Washed that down with a Summer Lightning, which never fails to deliver.
Yes, thats what I need in the cupboard.. whiskyJust fancied a wee nip...
Hmmm, I would say from the colour it was strong Bitter with EKG & Fuggles fermented with Wyeast Thames Valley. 6% I think I gave you a bottle of American Brown but looks a little light.I’m having a beer from @dave_77 but I’ve no idea what it is, there’s no description.
The colour is a gorgeous deep red-brown and the beer is crystal clear. Carbonation is quite soft - the off-white head needed a little height from the pour and then quickly dissipated to a light foam around the edge of the glass. A steady stream of small bubbles kept it going.
The aroma is caramel malt, raisins, and something warm and spicy which I’m guessing is rye.
The flavour is really nice, a little more dry than I’d expected from the aroma. The malt is beautiful and slightly bitter caramel notes shine through. It’s not the same as Hobgoblin (which is quite sweet) but shares enough similarities to remind me of Hobgoblin - a better version of course
I think I drank it too quickly to do it any justice with my description, it was just bloody nice and I want another!
I think it might have been fairly strong too because although I had no clue from the flavour, I can feel the effects - maybe I just drank it too quickly
Dave, I loved this ale, whatever it was!
