grabbed one of these at the shop. much more carbonated and lighter on the crystal than my recent attempts at a cali common, also definitely has a bit of roasted malt in there.

do you drink Chimay blue much? I compared them the other day and think I preferred the chimay, the rochefort is sweeter and heavier.

I should try them again with a westy next time.

New Dawn citrus IPA from Sheperd Neame with "hints of orange and freshing citrus hit."
A bottled version of a cask ale they made last year apparently, it's really nice !

Hazy IPA. This is easily the best looking out of all the my attempts at a hazy IPA.
It's only a week old so I will leave it another couple of weeks. I expected more from the hops 100g each of El Dorado Amarillo azacca. Hopefully it improves

It's not a hop I would use much if I am honest. A friend gave me 250g of el Dorado and Amarillo.
I can't see past mosaic for that big hop forward aroma and flavor

Just had a bit of a boil over at the hot-break. Not enough to be more than a minor cleaning inconvenience but a reminder that drinking and brewing are not always the best bedfellows.

Yeah I've had it several times, from the bottle and on tap, and I'm not a huge fan of it to be honest. Probably my least favourite of the Trappists.

Next up is a Westvleteren 8 very kindly donated by @Pennine :hat:
This is spectacular. Rich, toasty, brown sugar, toffee, loads of fruit, gentle spice. A bit lighter bodied than the R8, perhaps a touch more bitter, but easily as good. This is a beer that lives up to its reputation. Thanks again for sending this!

Tried out one of the father on laws stouts earlier. My wife has instructed me to drink them quick because one of his blew up in the garage....

it's ever so slightly overcarbed

Had to chill it right down so all I could taste was fizz. Not good!
