How much a case are those Dave?
I totally am. I live within Detroit city limits. Costco is six minutes, if that, by car to the north. I actually didn't know 2hearted ale was a Michigan brewing company.Mmm cases of 2hearted at Costco you must be in MI.
That takes me back I remember making Ginger beer when I was still at school in retrospect I’m not sure how I got away with drinking it in the school, canteen as despite my claims to the contrary it was, clearly quite alcoholic (can’t remember the exact recipie bit effectively sugar, fresh squeezed lemon, grated root ginger and powdered ginger fermented with what ever generic brewers yeast was available at the time).Had a bottle of my ginger beer tonight amongst other stuff, been sampling this over the week since bottling and it's getting better, first it was weird but now its nice and refreshing, flavours are light and it's a bit dry due to the added sugar. Not sure I'd do it again... maybe.

If your okay to share what recipe did you use?
I found out when I went to Canada a few years ago that I was allergic to barley (had a bad reaction to a beef and barley stew in a bar) I got checked out when I got back home and it was confirmed. I look at a lot of allergens on the side of food and most contain barley, still buy them though and also beers.Shouldn't have as I'm allergic to strawberries but it just sounded so nice.
Thank you for the review. This was a first attempt at an imperial stout. The sharpness in the after taste was also picked up in last month competition. It's something I will try and correct the next time round. I used admiral for bittering and kviek yeast.figured friday night would be a great time to give @samale 's imperial stout a sampling.
pours jet black and viscous with a small dark brown head that dissipates quickly. this is gonna be a rich one.
aroma is pretty feint surprisingly and i have stick my nose in there to get a good smell. i am getting dark bitter chocolate and coffee with a deep malty smell, like a very rich DIPA tastes. some light plum like esters and a slight bit of roastiness is there at the end. it gets much more aromatic as it warms up and then its yeasty bread dough.
tastes almost as i imagined it would, its thick, coating and sweet like a good imperial stout. lots of deep rich bready malt, dark chocolate again, a bit of woody bourbon and then a really good roasted coffee flavor, like a guinness but even more roasty. its really perfectly carbonated which balances the sweetness and the mouthfeel doesn't linger. the bitterness is nice and evens out the sweetness, it sticks around kind of like a cup of espresso does although its a slight bit acrid at the very end making me want to take another sip.
this is a really a nice one, kind of reminds me of a strong left hand brewing milk stout. i really like how much coffee i get from it and overall its a super roasty chocolaty stout which i enjoyed immensely. i am surprised at how little alcohol i am getting from it in the aroma and taste, i can definitely tell its there halfway through the bottle. the roasty sharpness at the end is probably the one thing i would take a look at and i am not sure if its roasted malt or harsh bittering hops that is causing it? or maybe the combo of the two. not thath big of a deal as another sip and its gone. Nicely done @samale i would stock a couple away for a long while to see how this thing ages if i were you.
