Where i live we're on a well for our water supply. I've never had any problems with my brews but was wondering if anyone else uses well water? Is there any problems that can arise from using it and do they treat it with anything?

The only think that could be a problem is the fact that you don't know what the water chemistry is if you decide to treat your water.

Kinda thinking if it aint broke don't try to fix it was just curious really

Send it to Murphys home brew, and they will do an analysis on the water and suggest suitable treatments for different beer styles.

TBH there are two things you have to worry about . . . Excessive iron (common in well water) which can give a taste of 'blood' to the beer.

The second is alkalinity which is what every brewer should check before brewing using a Salifert Total Alkalinity KH test Kit. As long as it falls below 50ppm for pale beers (<30ppm for lagers ideally) then it's not generally an issue.

cheers guys, thats given me something to think about :thumb: :wha:
