water quality test results questions

Just had the fanstic work done by Neil regards a water quality test.

now i am not toobothered with beer liquor issues as i can put these results in it to the beer smith programme to get my additions,

but what i dooo want to know is is there any thing here in these results that jumps out as bad or good.

I have the results but i dont have any idea whats a good baseline comparision for it


Sodium as Na, mg/L 25.8
Potassium as K, mg/L 3.3
Magnesium as Mg, mg/L 6.7
Calcium as Ca, mg/L 40.1
Chloride as Cl, mg/L 45.7
Nitrate as NO3, mg/L 18.3
Phosphate as PO4, mg/L 2.6
Sulphate as SO4, mg/L 24.9
Total alkalinity as CaCO3, mg/L 75
pH 7.20
Conductivity, uScm-1 at 20C 363
Total residual chlorine as Cl2, mg/L 0.03

Your alkalinity is at the better lower end @ Total alkalinity as CaCO3, mg/L 75. My water is 125-130 which is flexible enough to get decent quality light and dark beers.

Your Sulfate is a touch higher than i have seen (24.9) but that just means you will need to add less gypsum for drier crisp beers.

Generally all the numbers look very "normal" and all pretty treatable.

That is a great water report. That water's a good starting point for almost any brewing. Only the light German lager styles might benefit from less mineralized water.
