I've found that during these chilly winter months that my downstairs privy is lovely and warm, at an almost constant 20.3 degrees.
Do you think this would be a suitable place for my FV's or there may be a conflict of interest??

What if ya get drunk and happen to lift the wrong lid up and have a wazz!!??

To be honest ....no way would I store any food or drink in the loo mate !😝

Apparently there is a lot of airborne nasties in the toilet after its been used, and with the temperature and humidity I would imagine ,an ideal place for bacteria and bugs to thrive on all surfaces

Not possible mate. My privy is sprayed with starsan on a daily basis and the "bowl" is well bleached after every flush..tho the cat does do go in occasionally. Would that be a cause for concern??

Im not sure, my lav is a bit chilly to do this kind of thing but I can imagine if you give it a good clean before siphoning you'd be OK. In all fairness you probably clean the lav more thoroughly and more times than a beer room anyway however the humidity from showering and bathing in there could cause some humidity in an fv

This is just from speculation though and not from experience

I don't think I would take the risk myself robin ,but someone may tell you otherwise?

Sorry for the confusion. Not intended. I don't have a shower or bath in there. Just a bog and sink. Well theres a rad. and towel rail. Lovely and warm tho.

I once seen a slo-mo reconstruction ,showing how far into the air a mixture of bog water and poop can travel ,covering nearly all of the surfaces in the bathroom..... toothbrushes included!! Yukk

Personally if it's a good temp then go for it. If It's got an airlock on it so it keeps nasties out the as an extra precaution I'd sterilise the crap out of it before bottling

You could just call it Pivy Ale!! Sorry, I really try to pickup English English over the years but I didn't grasp that word. Sorry for being too American. Haha

Call me a slob but i have 2 FV's in bog right now wrapped in an old duvet. I cant see the problem apart from taking up too much space. Could always rig up an STC and a heat mat. Cost me less than £30 and now have proper control over temperature at last.

There you go...the bog, sorry, downstairs privy is a good place to ferment. Mines the warmest room in the house, in the winter.

If it's warm and stable why not !!!!!!!

Stick on air lock on it so that any nasty's are kept out.

As it ferments the positive pressure in the FV should keep anything out.

Not an ideal place but hey you can try !!!

Ironic, my flat is always way too hot and I'm looking for the cold spots :( 27c ambient liquid temp at the minute.

It would seem that some peeps frown upon brewing in yer bog...mines toasty...well ideal actually

**** having your gas bill.

Live in a town centre flat. Walls are 'double skinned' and ALL my neighbors have their heating on. Mine hasn't been turned on in a couple years now and as I sit here all my windows are open. It makes brewing in the summer impossible. :(
