Hello Everyone, Im james and im completely new to home brewing I saw a video on youtube on how to make inmate brew and it got me interested so i bought myself a fermentation vessel and coopers australian ale kit. I have simply used the kit and followed the instructions also 1kg of standard granulated sugar has been used. Im hopeing this goes well for my first time. Is this a good kit? Ive included a photo of my new toy :D

Hey buddy. Welcome!

All looks good. My first ever brew was also an Aussie lager and it has turned out a lovely beer. I will be making another batch at some point as its so easy and the results for me have been surprisingly great!

You should be seeing some bubbles soon :thumb:

Are you going to keg or bottles this?

Hi james
got this one in the fv at the moment seems to be a good kit fermenting really well hope yours is going the same. Brewed short to 21ltrs 500g light dme and 700g of brewing sugar.
still fairly new to home brewing myself but finding a good hobby.
good luck let us know your results .

I've recently done a Coopers Australian Lager too. I used the kit yeast and 1 kg of brewing sugar, and it was the smoothest ferment yet. At about 18 degrees, it started off fairly lively (24 hours after pitching the yeast until it really got going) but continued bubbling for 10 days, gradually slowing down. I bottled after 2 weeks. It's conditioning right now but tasted pretty good when I bottled it.

Over the last few months I've done quite a few of the Coopers kits (Australian Pale Ale, Canadian Blonde, IPA, Wheat Beer) and they've all been pretty good. I did the Wheat Beer for the wife, but she's not so keen on it - not because it's ****, just because she wanted Hoegarden and it's not very similar. The Blonde is really good, the IPA should be ready in another week or two. I think they're really good kits.

You wont go wrong with any of the coopers kits mate, just keep your first few brews nice and simple.Check out "craigtube" on youtube.Hes top hand at homebrewing and not up his own a**se.Good luck mate,I started about fga ye  ar ago,and love every min of it.keep us posted.

Haha thanks @gingerhammer that it was actually craigtubes inamte brew video that i watched and i have been watching a few of his videos now. Well i fermented the container for 7 days and i have chosen to bottle it rarther than keg it. Im using sterilized 500ml and 2 litre coke bottles. The fLager has been left to prime for a day now and it is already crystal clear im very surprised but im going to let them sit for about 2 weeks before trying one is that enough time for them to become fizzy. I used half a teaspoon of caster suger per 2 litres of Lager for Priming.

Thankyou everyone for the welcoming replys, Im looking forward to tasting my end product and will let you all know how it tastes im now also brewing some Hard apple cider in a glass demi john :) should be fun.

Welcome mate! And *Apple Cider*
Drop the "hard" part please...

Are okies sorry i was just told that apple cider was plain apple juice and when its fermented it becomes hard apple cider aka alcoholic.

Welcome aboard James, as the others have suggested you wont go far wrong with the Coopers kits, they are very good.
As you get more confortable with the home brewing process you will see that other sugars are better than standard granulated so as you have started simply you will have given yourself a bench mark to compare as you swap and change and tweak those kit recipes.
Keep us posted with how things progress and we like photos on here too!! :thumb:
