Hi all,

I remember a while ago there was a thread about filling your HLT from the hot tap to speed things up a bit. I've been trying to find it for a while to no avail.

Could someone either point me in the direction of the thread, or let me know a brief summary of it. I have instant hot water, no storage tank, so is that a green light for me? Do I still add a CT?

Thanks in advance

I think if you have a combi boiler you are Ok but you will still need the CT, the CT gets rid of chloramides.

Yup I have a combi boiler and get a head start by using hot water direct from the tap :thumb:

I think what your after was this...

Brewstew's tip of the day: if your on a Combi boiler or a hot water system that doesn't have a storage tank in the attic, there's no harm in using your hot tap to fill your liquor tank... it'll shave off a good 30 mins of your brewday because your boiler needs to do less work to bring the water to temperature.

From brewstew's most excelent How Too...

yep combi boiler is safe to use as its straight from mains water so effectivley its the same as your cold mains water but warm have converted the house to mains only water and done away with the water storage tank as the harbour all sorts of nasties lets just say when i emptied the tank in the loft for removal it looked like chocolate milk

+1 here for the hot tap - same as above providing you've got a combi boiler. I use mine for both beer and wine :thumb:
