Just reading about the torrential rains that have hit parts of the UK. Bloody Hell. I read someone was washed away. If anyone on here is impacted by this....sheesh...get to higher ground and good luck! Be safe.

A woman has died after becoming submerged in floodwater as parts of England were deluged with a month's worth of rain in a day.
She was swept away in the early hours and the body was pulled from the River Derwent in Derbyshire at 10:40 GMT.
In Yorkshire, people have been evacuated from their homes and there is chaos on the road and rail network.
Six severe warnings - meaning a danger to life - are in place along the River Don in Doncaster.

Up in Ullapool during the winter of 2004-2005 there was an awful storm a family in one of those big 4x4 cars was blown off a causeway and drowned.All were lost so sad!!

Here in muir of ord cold wet,wet weather is just par for the course.
Still have to be VERY sorry for the people who have had there homes ruined.

There is a long-term lesson in all this - don't build houses on flood plains. That's why they're called flood plains. Besides which the soil is silty and quality agricultural land, as I understand it, so should be reserved for farming. However, that requires a government to apply common sense which is obviously out of the question.
