I've yet to hear a news report about the 1% growth for the last quarter which hasn't gone on with "however" or "but"

Why must the media continuously say "Hey don't get your hopes up, its still **** you know"

Because in the main they are biased left-wing scare mongers, hell bent on keeping this country in the doldrums so they have something to report.

If it wasn't for the BBC news team and others this economic down turn would have been over a long time ago.

STFU BBC

I have just seen BBC's headlines It was the olympics that caused us to grow by 1%.

Does that mean we are heading for a dip again now they are over :hmm:

This.

It is quite apparent that the media are still running the show, not the government. Where prior to Levison it was done under the table and behind closed doors with favours, nods and winks, it is now just out and out muscle flexing and bullying.

I can't speak for everyone but this so called recession seems to have passed me by. In the last three years I've got a new job, new car, new house and started a family. Recession? What recession?

Obviously 'cos the current government are evil/incompetent/useless etc etc and therefore couldn't possibly get us out of recession without there being some sort of other explanation..... :wha:

I tell you what won't get us out of a recession, whinging!

Exactly it will be the likes of you me getting are arses out of bed each day going to work and putting cash into the ecconomy. It certainly won't be that T*at Osb$£%$e or the BBC. Mind you now they have got the fall out of Jimmy Saville they may forget the economic down turn.

Rant over....................

for now................

Economic downturn? It was/is a recession calling it anything else is Rightwing propaganda to hide the mistakes their schoolchums in banking made

Half full or half empty? Does it matter as long as there is stuff there to argue over

And to keep it balanced we mustn't forget New Labours part in all this, letting bankers get away with what they did.

Oh and not forgetting the billions of pounds they spent /wasted for which we had little or no means of paying leaving the country in the worst recession for 70 yrs.

"Gifts" of "Aid" to countries that have the capability to buy military aircraft should be made a criminal act. It should be an amendment to the Treason Act and the culprits should hanged at traitors gate.

What about the folk who voted the tories out, under Major, the best economic status we've had in decades? Anyone blame them?

Anyway, the glass HAS to be helf empty, if it's full you wont get more beer into it, therefore it has to be empty, if it isn't get it emptied so you can put more into it.

I ruddy hate pessimistic pessimists, I'm of the optomisitic pessimist bent myself, yes, it's half empty, but I've got plans to refill it :)

Agree the press seem to love bad news, but lets not forget things are not great or will be any time soon. My pay has been frozen for 3 years but we have had over 5% inflation during that time with gas, electric, petrol going through the roof. So in effect my pay has gone down by 3% a year. I call that a resession and as far as I am concerned we are still in resession. I am sure the bankers may have had to reign things in a bit too. They now only buy £50 bottles of champagne. Poor things.

the media are ONLY interested in headlines. If the story isn't headline grabbing, it's either ditched, or twisted so it has a good enough headline.

Since I ditched the train for the motorbike for my commuting I've not read a paper, and around the same time I lost interest in watching the news - it's all negative stuff anyway - and on the whole I felt a whole lot happier!

I mentioned this to my father in law, who's a news addict, and he pretty much accused me of living my life with my head in the sand, but that's nonsense - I simply don't want to worry about things that don't affect me, and which I have zero influence over.

As for the media influence - just look at the recent fuel 'shortage' - a media scare story led to people panic buying, which CREATED the fuel shortages!!!

Better off without the whole media circus ;)
